Wood (KSA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Inplant Principal Piping Layout Engineering Design Subject Matter Expert to join our team in Saudi Arabia. This pivotal role will require a strategic leader with deep expertise in piping layout engineering, capable of driving excellence in design, compliance, and operational efficiency within our on-site projects.

In this capacity, you will serve as the primary technical authority for piping layout engineering design, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. Your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of piping design projects, from conceptualization and feasibility studies to detailed engineering, optimization, and implementation. As a Principal-level expert, you will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver innovative solutions that enhance project performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Lead and oversee complex piping layout engineering design projects, ensuring adherence to engineering principles, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
• Design Excellence: Develop and validate piping layouts that optimize flow dynamics, minimize material usage, and enhance operational efficiency while meeting client specifications.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with local, national, and international standards, including ASME, API, and Saudi Arabian regulations.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with clients, contractors, and internal teams to align technical requirements, resolve design challenges, and drive project success.
• Knowledge Transfer: Mentor and train junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical growth within the team.
• Innovation and Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and technological advancements in piping design methodologies.
• On-Site Execution: Provide hands-on support during on-site implementation, ensuring seamless integration of designs with field operations.

Qualifications and Experience:

Candidates for this role must possess:

• A minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in piping layout engineering design, with a strong track record in leadership roles.
• Proven expertise in 3D piping modeling, utilizing industry-standard software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, or similar tools.
• Deep knowledge of piping codes and standards, including ASME B31.1, B31.3, and API standards, with experience in compliance-driven environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges in high-pressure project environments.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline, supplemented by relevant certifications (e.g., P.E. license, if applicable).
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to diverse stakeholders.
• Fluency in English and proficiency in Arabic are highly advantageous for effective collaboration in the Saudi market.
• Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is a significant asset, given the regional project landscape.
