Senior Data Engineer – Hybrid Role at Robusta (KSA)

Robusta is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in a hybrid work model, based in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), for a 10-12 month engagement with RTG. As a Senior Data Engineer at Robusta, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing robust data infrastructure that supports our clients’ strategic objectives. Your work will ensure seamless data flow, enhance system performance, and drive data-driven decision-making across diverse industries. Key Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the following critical tasks:
- Architect and Implement Data Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that efficiently ingest, process, and transform data from multiple sources. Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization for large-scale data workflows.
- Cloud Infrastructure and Integration: Develop and manage cloud-based data solutions using leading platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Integrate disparate systems, APIs, and databases to create cohesive data ecosystems.
- Data Modeling and Warehousing: Create and optimize data models, schemas, and data warehouses to support business intelligence, analytics, and reporting needs. Collaborate with stakeholders to align data structures with organizational goals.
- Performance Tuning and Monitoring: Continuously monitor data infrastructure for performance bottlenecks, optimize queries, and implement best practices for data storage and retrieval. Ensure compliance with SLAs and service-level agreements.
- Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to translate business requirements into technical data solutions. Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams to ensure seamless data delivery.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and drive best practices in data engineering methodologies. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
- Hybrid Work Excellence: Balance on-site and remote work effectively, contributing to project milestones while fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation within a hybrid team environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and technical proficiencies:
- Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 7+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on large-scale data systems and cloud technologies.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python, SQL, Spark, Hadoop, or similar big data technologies. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (EMR, Redshift, Glue), Azure (Synapse, Data Factory), or Google Cloud (BigQuery, Dataflow). Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes, data lakes, and data warehousing solutions is essential.
- Data Architecture: Deep understanding of data modeling, schema design, and optimization techniques. Ability to design systems that support real-time and batch processing requirements.
- DevOps and Automation: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in financial services, healthcare, or enterprise solutions is a plus, though not mandatory. Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2) is highly advantageous.
