We are seeking a highly skilled Senior OpenStack Engineer to join our esteemed Professional Services team, where you will play a pivotal role in a long-term, high-impact engagement. In this position, you will oversee the management, optimization, and secure operation of a production-grade OpenStack private cloud environment, ensuring seamless performance, scalability, and compliance for our valued customers. Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities, focusing on the deployment, optimization, and secure operation of OpenStack and Kubernetes environments. Key areas of focus include:

• OpenStack Deployment and Management: Lead the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of OpenStack-based private cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance. Dive deep into core OpenStack services such as Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone, while leveraging advanced technologies like Octavia, Designate, and Masakari to enhance functionality. Gain expertise in Canonical OpenStack, Juju, and LXD containers, and integrate Software Defined Storage solutions like Ceph to meet evolving storage demands.
• Kubernetes Orchestration: Design, deploy, and manage scalable Kubernetes clusters to orchestrate containerized applications, ensuring seamless deployment, scaling, and operational efficiency. Utilize Charmed Kubernetes to streamline cluster management and optimize resource utilization.
• Integration and Automation: Bridge the gap between OpenStack and Kubernetes by developing automation scripts and tools that enable seamless provisioning, monitoring, and scaling of cloud resources. Implement infrastructure-as-code principles to enhance agility and reduce operational overhead.
• Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor system performance using advanced tools such as Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana (ELK stack) to gain actionable insights into cloud operations. Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to SDN OVN networking, CPU, and disk utilization, ensuring optimal performance and resource efficiency.
• Security and Compliance: Champion security best practices to safeguard OpenStack and Kubernetes environments, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements. Implement robust access controls, authentication, and authorization mechanisms, and leverage knowledge of CIS benchmarks to fortify security posture.
• Documentation and Reporting: Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, operational procedures, and best practices. Generate insightful reports on system performance, capacity, and utilization to support data-driven decision-making.
• Collaboration and Support: Foster cross-functional collaboration to integrate OpenStack and Kubernetes solutions with existing systems, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Provide proactive technical support and resolve issues with precision, contributing to a seamless user experience for end clients.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must possess a strong foundation in cloud infrastructure, automation, and security. We are seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of cloud technologies.
• Proven expertise in Linux system administration, with hands-on experience in scripting languages such as Python and Bash to automate and manage complex cloud environments.
• Extensive experience with OpenStack deployment, configuration, and management, including hands-on troubleshooting and optimization of production-grade environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Software Defined Storage solutions, particularly Ceph, to ensure scalable and resilient storage architectures.
• Familiarity with cloud-native principles, including containerization, microservices, and infrastructure-as-code, to drive modern cloud architectures.
• Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex technical challenges in high-stakes environments.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective partnership with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to deliver cohesive solutions.
