As a Backend Engineer specializing in Healthcare Integrations & Systems, you will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between our proprietary platform and the complex ecosystem of hospital systems. Your expertise will ensure seamless data exchange between FluidAI’s advanced monitoring solutions and existing healthcare infrastructure, including Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and national health data exchanges. This critical role demands a deep understanding of healthcare interoperability standards, robust backend development, and a passion for improving clinical workflows.

In this position, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to design, develop, and maintain scalable integration services that facilitate real-time data exchange. Your responsibilities will span the entire lifecycle of healthcare integrations, from initial system requirements gathering to ongoing support and optimization. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining HL7 FHIR and HL7 v2 interfaces, ensuring compliance with industry standards while addressing the unique challenges of hospital environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and Develop Integration Services: Design and maintain robust backend services that facilitate seamless data exchange between FluidAI’s platform and hospital systems, including EHRs, LIS, ADT feeds, device gateways, and national health exchanges.
• Implement Healthcare Interoperability Standards: Develop and maintain HL7 FHIR APIs and resources (e.g., Patient, Encounter, Observation, Device, DiagnosticReport) as well as HL7 v2 message interfaces (ADT, ORU, ORM) for both inbound and outbound data flows, ensuring compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements.
• Build Production-Grade Backend Systems: Create clean, well-tested, and resilient backend services and APIs that are secure, observable, and capable of handling the complexities of hospital networks. Focus on developing both RESTful and event-driven architectures to support real-time data processing.
• Data Mapping and Transformation: Own the data mapping and transformation logic between FluidAI’s internal data models and external healthcare standards, including terminology mappings (LOINC, SNOMED CT, UCUM) and vendor-specific profile variations to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
• Develop Robust Integration Patterns: Implement advanced interface engine and integration patterns such as message queuing, retry mechanisms, deduplication, acknowledgment handling, idempotency, and data reconciliation to ensure reliable and fault-tolerant data exchange.
• Lead Hospital Onboarding: Collaborate with hospital IT departments and EHR analysts to gather interface requirements, conduct connectivity and message testing, and support go-live and hypercare phases, ensuring smooth integration and minimal disruption to clinical workflows.
• Monitor and Optimize Integration Health: Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging systems to detect message failures and data gaps early, enabling proactive troubleshooting and end-to-end traceability of data flows.
• Ensure Healthcare Security and Privacy Compliance: Apply rigorous healthcare security and privacy best practices, including OAuth2/SMART on FHIR, mutual TLS, VPN connectivity, audit logging, and data minimization, to safeguard sensitive patient information and ensure regulatory compliance.
