Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Sr Manager, Contracting & Procurement to lead and optimize our contract formation, negotiation, and management processes. Reporting directly to Executive Management, this pivotal role will oversee the entire procurement lifecycle, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while mitigating risks and maximizing value. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in contract administration, legal compliance, and procurement best practices to drive operational excellence and foster strong stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

The Sr Manager, Contracting & Procurement will be responsible for the following core functions:

  • Contract Administration & Lifecycle Management: Provide day-to-day oversight and administration of the full procurement and contract lifecycle, ensuring seamless execution from initiation to closure.
  • Contract Drafting & Negotiation: Develop, draft, and finalize complex legally binding agreements, including non-disclosure agreements, lease agreements, purchase orders, subcontracts, and other instruments. Collaborate with stakeholders to negotiate terms that align with business interests, minimize risk, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Strategic Procurement Leadership: Lead and support strategic sourcing initiatives, subcontracting, and vendor file management. Assist in drafting requests for proposals (RFPs), specifications, terms of reference, evaluation criteria, and sole-source justifications to enhance procurement efficiency and transparency.
  • Policy & Procedure Development: Serve as a subject matter expert in procurement and contracting, designing and implementing standardized policies, procedures, templates, tools, and systems to streamline operations and ensure consistency across the organization.
  • Legal & Regulatory Compliance: Research and interpret legal and contractual issues, including intellectual property and international corporate regulations. Ensure adherence to best practices, statutes, and internal policies while providing clear guidance to staff and management on contractual and procurement-related matters.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Training: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, legal teams, and executive leadership. Provide expert advice, recommendations, and training to staff to enhance their understanding of procurement and contracting processes.
  • Risk Management & Performance Optimization: Identify and address inconsistencies or gaps in contracts and procurement processes to mitigate risks and improve operational performance. Leverage purchasing software and Microsoft Office tools to enhance efficiency and data-driven decision-making.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration: Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the procurement team, ensuring adherence to company policies, safety procedures, and ethical standards while promoting a safe and productive work environment.

Qualifications & Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required. An advanced degree, such as an MBA or Law degree, is highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 18 years of progressive experience in Contracts & Procurement or a closely related field, with a proven track record in managing complex procurement and contracting initiatives.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Exceptional attention to detail to identify inconsistencies in contracts and procurement documents. Proficiency in local and international procurement regulations, laws, and industry best practices.
  • Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and management skills to guide cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with purchasing software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Compliance & Ethical Standards: A commitment to upholding company policies, safety procedures, and ethical standards while fostering a culture of integrity and accountability.
