As a Merchandiser, you will play a pivotal role in executing our mission by ensuring product availability, merchandising excellence, and customer satisfaction across assigned accounts.

Key Responsibilities

The Merchandiser is responsible for maximizing sales volume, minimizing product stales, and achieving distribution targets while adhering to merchandising standards and maintaining high levels of customer service. This role requires a dynamic and results-driven individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to operational excellence. Below are the core responsibilities:

• Sales Execution: Sell the full range of PepsiCo products to an agreed-upon list of customers, with performance measured against predefined sales targets. Ensure that stales (unsold or expired products) remain below the agreed-upon threshold set by your supervisor.
• Customer Service & Relationship Management: Deliver exceptional service to customers by adhering to approved call frequencies and daily route plans. Maintain open communication with your supervisor through daily debriefings to review customer visits, sales performance, and market insights.
• Merchandising & In-Store Execution: Implement and maintain agreed-upon in-store merchandising standards, including product placement, shelf organization, and promotional displays. Collaborate with company merchandisers, where applicable, to ensure consistency and compliance with PepsiCo’s visual merchandising guidelines.
• Inventory & Stock Management: Monitor and maintain individual customer stock levels to prevent out-of-stock situations. Ensure timely order fulfillment and coordinate delivery arrangements as required.
• Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis: Provide your supervisor with up-to-date market information, including competitor activity, pricing trends, and emerging opportunities to support strategic decision-making and sales growth.
• Financial & Operational Compliance: Conduct daily reconciliation of all sales transactions, including cash, credit, and cheque payments. Ensure compliance with company operating procedures, including daily vehicle checks to maintain roadworthiness and cleanliness. Report any defects or damage to the vehicle immediately to the supervisor.
• Professional Conduct & Compliance: Adhere to PepsiCo’s driving regulations and maintain a high standard of professionalism, including neat grooming and adherence to company policies. Participate in training programs designed to enhance customer service, sales techniques, and product knowledge.

Qualifications & Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business, marketing, or a related field is a plus.
• Proven experience in sales, merchandising, or a customer-facing role, preferably within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with customers and team members.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency in basic arithmetic for financial reconciliation and inventory management.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, with the ability to operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly.
• Familiarity with merchandising tools, POS (Point of Sale) systems, and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software is advantageous.
