Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Manager specializing in substation projects to join our dynamic team in Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, execution, and completion of substation construction projects, ensuring adherence to strict safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in managing large-scale infrastructure projects within the energy sector, coupled with exceptional leadership and project management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership: Lead and supervise the entire construction lifecycle of substation projects, from initial planning and design review to final commissioning and handover, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints.
- Team Management: Direct and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and laborers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment while prioritizing safety and compliance.
- Safety and Compliance: Implement and enforce rigorous safety protocols and quality control measures in alignment with local and international regulations, including OSHA, NEC, and IEC standards, to mitigate risks and ensure operational excellence.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary liaison between the client, contractors, regulatory bodies, and internal departments, facilitating seamless communication and resolving any project-related challenges proactively.
- Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage project budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize procurement processes to maximize cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality or safety.
- Technical Oversight: Provide expert guidance on technical specifications, construction methodologies, and industry best practices, ensuring all project deliverables meet or exceed client expectations and technical standards.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential project risks, including logistical, environmental, or regulatory hurdles, and implement strategic mitigation plans to minimize disruptions and delays.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including progress reports, compliance records, and as-built drawings, to support audits and future reference.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, CEng) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in substation construction, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity. Prior work in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or the Middle East is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of substation design, construction methodologies, and relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Primavera P6, MS Project). Familiarity with Saudi Aramco, NEOM, or similar industry standards is advantageous.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive performance, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Safety Certification: Valid safety certifications such as OSHA 30, NEBOSH, or equivalent, with a strong commitment to promoting a zero-incident workplace.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
