Your Role as a Cyber Security Architect – Telecom

As a Cyber Security Architect specializing in telecom, you will be at the forefront of designing and securing next-generation telecom infrastructures and networks for large-scale transformation programs. Your expertise will be instrumental in enabling critical use cases such as Mission Critical Communications (post-TETRA), Public Safety Networks, Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), and Industrial IoT. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of secure telecom ecosystems while collaborating with industry leaders and innovators.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing end-to-end security architectures for telecom and cloud environments, covering domains such as SIM/eSIM, Devices, RAN, Transport (MPLS/IP), EPC/5G Core, IMS, MCx, OSS, and BSS.
  • Developing and implementing security frameworks aligned with industry standards, including 3GPP, GSMA, ETSI, NIST, ISO 27001, and best practices such as Zero Trust, Defense-in-Depth, and Adaptive Security.
  • Conducting threat modeling, risk assessments, and vulnerability analysis to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks across telecom networks.
  • Providing expert recommendations to address vulnerabilities and incidents, ensuring robust protection for telecom ecosystems.
  • Evaluating and recommending security technologies, such as Firewalls, IDS/IPS, PKI, HSM, PAM, EDR, SIEM, and SOAR, while validating vendor solutions.
  • Producing and maintaining high-quality architecture artifacts, including High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), guidelines, and security procedures.
  • Collaborating with solution architects, engineering, and integration teams to ensure secure design and deployment of telecom solutions.
  • Leading customer workshops and presenting security strategies to both technical and executive stakeholders, fostering alignment and understanding.

Your Profile

To excel in this role, you will bring the following qualifications and experience:

Experience & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Telecommunications.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years dedicated to telecom environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, CISSP, ISSAP, CCSP, or equivalent are highly preferred.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep knowledge of 4G/5G security standards and compliance, including 3GPP TS33.x, TS33501, GSMA, ETSI, NIST, and ENISA.
  • Expertise in securing RAN infrastructures, including DNS, DHCP, IPAM, AAA, DIAMETER, and RIC security.
  • Proficiency in telecom protocols such as LTE/5G, GSM/2G/3G, GTP, and SCTP.
  • Experience in transport network security, including MPLS, IP, and BGP.
  • Strong background in cloud and virtualization security, with familiarity in platforms like OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, and VMware.
  • In-depth understanding of EPC/5G Core security, including components like AMF, SMF, UDM, NRF, AUSF, and NEF.
  • Knowledge of securing IMS and MCx services, as well as OSS/BSS and network management systems.
  • Familiarity with security architecture models such as Zero Trust, Layered Security, Defense-in-Depth, and Adaptive Security.
  • Experience in implementing baseline security standards (MBSS) for telecom environments.
  • Expertise in integrating security solutions across ecosystems, including PKI, CLM, HSM, IdM, PAM, EDR, SIEM, and SOAR.
