Project Director - Engineering & Contracts Administration

Our client, a leading international project delivery partner, seeks an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a major fast-track Design & Build project in Riyadh on behalf of one of Saudi Arabia's most prestigious developers.

This senior client-side leadership role involves acting as the developer's representative and taking full responsibility for project delivery from design through construction, commissioning, and handover. The successful candidate will bring a strong engineering background, exceptional leadership skills, and extensive experience in contract administration to ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The Role

• Provide overall leadership for the successful delivery of a major Design & Build project.
• Act as the primary client representative, managing consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead engineering, design coordination, construction, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Oversee the delivery of multiple facilities, including utilities buildings, warehouse and office accommodation, fuel station, EV charging infrastructure, hard standings, and external works.
• Administer construction contracts, ensuring contractual compliance, change management, claims avoidance, commercial governance, and effective risk management.
• Manage programme performance, project controls, reporting, and project governance.
• Resolve complex technical, contractual, and commercial issues while maintaining project objectives.
• Lead interface management across multiple disciplines, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Ensure all permitting, approvals, statutory requirements, and client standards are achieved.
• Champion health, safety, quality, and delivery excellence across the project.

About You

• Degree qualified in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering (or a related engineering discipline).
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional accreditation is advantageous.
• Extensive experience leading large-scale Design & Build construction projects.
• Strong client-side or delivery partner experience on complex infrastructure or building developments.
• Demonstrable expertise in contract administration, including FIDIC (or equivalent forms of contract), change management, claims management, and contract compliance.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams, consultants, and major contractors.
• Excellent knowledge of project governance, programme management, commercial management, and project controls.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior client representatives and delivery teams.
• Previous experience delivering fast-track projects within demanding programmes is essential.
• Must be available to start immediately or within a short notice period.
