SKILLED HELPER

Position Overview

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Skilled Helper to join our production team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing processes by supporting various tasks related to material handling, machine operation, quality control, and workplace organization. Your responsibilities will encompass transporting materials, preparing equipment, monitoring production, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency. This position requires a proactive approach, strong physical stamina, and a commitment to upholding our quality and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

As a Skilled Helper, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Material Transportation and Preparation:
  • Transport raw materials, such as mixing material, from the mixing unit to production machines to ensure a continuous and uninterrupted feeding process, particularly in extrusion operations.
  • Prepare and make available essential items such as ORM (Operational Reference Material), packing materials, machine accessories, and ink buckets as required by the production team.
  • Load and unload Work-in-Progress (WIP) rolls onto machines for printing or cutting processes, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal workflow.
• Production Support and Quality Assurance:
  • Monitor machines and products during active production runs, promptly identifying and reporting any defects or irregularities to the relevant personnel to prevent quality issues and maintain product integrity.
  • Weigh finished products and accurately record the weight on product labels to ensure compliance with specifications and traceability.
  • Segregate and manage products placed on hold based on internal rejection feedback, ensuring proper documentation and preventing further processing of non-conforming items.
• Waste Management and Reporting:
  • Collect, weigh, and segregate production waste, then communicate waste figures to the Operator for inclusion in the Production Report. This data is essential for tracking efficiency and identifying areas for improvement.
• Workplace Organization and 5S Compliance:
  • Adhere to 5S principles—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain—by returning leftover materials and machine accessories to their designated storage locations after use. This ensures a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
  • Follow specific cleaning procedures for printing machine parts as outlined in the Work Instructions to maintain cleanliness and readiness for subsequent production cycles.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A high school diploma or equivalent qualification is preferred; vocational training in a related field is a plus.
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment, particularly in roles involving material handling or machine support, is highly advantageous.
• Strong physical stamina and the ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy materials and equipment as required by the job.
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately to maintain quality and safety standards.
• Basic mathematical skills for weighing and recording measurements, as well as the ability to interpret product labels and specifications.
• Familiarity with 5S methodologies and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
• Effective communication skills to relay information clearly to team members and supervisors, ensuring seamless coordination and problem resolution.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.

Work Environment

This position is based in a fast-paced manufacturing facility where adherence to safety protocols and production schedules is paramount. The Skilled Helper will work closely with machine operators, production leads, and quality control teams to ensure that all processes run efficiently and meet established standards. The role may involve standing for extended periods, lifting heavy objects, and operating in environments with varying temperatures, depending on the production area.
