Position Overview
HanmiGlobal Saudi Arabia is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Inspector to join our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team for a prestigious residential development project located in Riyadh. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance throughout all mechanical construction activities, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, LPG systems, chilled water systems, and related building services. Your expertise will be instrumental in verifying adherence to approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and applicable engineering codes during both the construction and commissioning phases.
Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Inspector will be responsible for a comprehensive range of duties, including:
- Mechanical Systems Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of HVAC systems, plumbing installations, firefighting networks, LPG systems (where applicable), chilled water systems, and other associated mechanical building services to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Documentation Review and Inspection Execution: Evaluate contractor-submitted Inspection Requests (IRs) and perform inspections in strict accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), ensuring all activities meet predefined quality benchmarks.
- Material and Installation Verification: Confirm that all installed materials and workmanship align with approved material submittals, project specifications, and relevant engineering codes, mitigating risks associated with non-compliance.
- Testing and Commissioning Oversight: Witness and validate critical activities such as pressure testing, system flushing, balancing, functional testing, pre-commissioning, and full commissioning to ensure operational readiness and performance efficiency.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify deviations from approved standards, issue detailed inspection observations and reports, and verify the implementation of corrective actions prior to approving completed works.
- Collaborative Coordination: Work closely with Resident Engineers, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate seamless inspections, resolve technical queries, and ensure alignment with project timelines and quality objectives.
- Quality Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous inspection logs, daily reports, and comprehensive records of testing activities, ensuring transparency and traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
- Audit Participation and Handover Support: Contribute to quality audits, participate in project handover inspections, and support the delivery of a defect-free, high-performance mechanical infrastructure.
- Compliance Assurance: Uphold rigorous standards in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols, as well as project governance requirements, to safeguard project integrity and stakeholder interests.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
- Professional Registration: Valid registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is required, where applicable, to ensure compliance with local regulatory standards.
- Industry Experience: A minimum of five years of hands-on experience as a Mechanical Inspector, with a proven track record in residential, commercial, hospitality, or mixed-use development projects.
- PMC and Contractor Experience: Prior involvement with Project Management Consultancies (PMCs), engineering consultants, or international contractors is highly advantageous, demonstrating familiarity with large-scale project dynamics.
Technical Proficiency and Certifications
Ideal candidates will possess the following technical competencies and certifications:
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of HVAC systems, plumbing installations, firefighting networks, and mechanical building services, along with familiarity with industry standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, and other relevant codes.
- Documentation and Review Skills: Proficiency in reviewing shop drawings, inspection documentation, and technical submittals to ensure alignment with project specifications.
- Testing and Commissioning Expertise: Hands-on experience with testing protocols, commissioning procedures, and system validation techniques to ensure operational reliability.
- Software Competency: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications to support reporting, data analysis, and documentation tasks.
- Certifications: Registration with the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is preferred. Additional certifications in mechanical inspection, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), or related disciplines are considered a significant advantage.
