About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Breakwater Engineer to join our global team of experts at Surbana Jurong (SJ). Key Responsibilities

As a Breakwater Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:

• Technical Supervision: Oversee the construction of breakwaters, including the installation of rock works, armour units, and core materials, ensuring adherence to design specifications and industry best practices.
• Quality Assurance: Monitor construction activities in real-time, conducting rigorous quality control checks to verify compliance with approved method statements, design standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Design Review and Compliance: Collaborate with design teams to review and validate method statements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and engineering standards. Assess design compliance to mitigate risks and enhance project outcomes.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with cross-functional teams, including contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies, to facilitate seamless project execution and resolve technical challenges proactively.
• Innovation and Sustainability: Drive continuous improvement by integrating cutting-edge technologies, such as AI-driven analytics and digital tools, to optimize construction processes and enhance the durability of coastal protection systems.
• Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, progress updates, and compliance documentation to support project management and client communications.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Experience: A minimum of 15 years in breakwater and coastal engineering, with a proven track record in marine construction supervision and project delivery.
• Expertise: In-depth knowledge of breakwater design principles, coastal protection methodologies, and marine construction techniques. Familiarity with industry standards such as Eurocodes, British Standards, or equivalent is essential.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and method statements. Experience with construction management software and digital tools is advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong leadership qualities, and excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with global teams and stakeholders.
• Certifications: Professional engineering certification (e.g., P.E., CEng) is preferred but not mandatory.
