About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Saudi National Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic team at a leading automotive manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Saudi Arabia. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing equipment reliability, advancing automation initiatives, and driving continuous improvement within our state-of-the-art automotive stamping operations. You will collaborate closely with Maintenance and Process Engineering teams to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and elevate production efficiency to meet the highest industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
As an Equipment Engineer specializing in automotive stamping, your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of technical and operational duties, including:
- Equipment Optimization and Troubleshooting: Provide expert support, troubleshooting, and optimization for automotive stamping equipment, with a primary focus on automation, controls, reliability, and lean manufacturing principles. Utilize Siemens PLC systems, including Step7 and TIA Portal, to diagnose, resolve, and improve equipment performance.
- System Configuration and Monitoring: Set up new references and configurations on production lines to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness. Utilize WinCC HMI/SCADA systems to monitor equipment performance, conduct diagnostics, and implement interface improvements for enhanced operational visibility and control.
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead and participate in equipment improvement projects aimed at reducing cycle times, enhancing reliability, and ensuring process stability. Analyze machine performance data to identify inefficiencies and implement lean manufacturing strategies to boost equipment health and overall productivity.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in tandem with Maintenance teams to address and resolve complex electrical, electronic, automation, and control-related issues. Partner with Process Engineering to align equipment capabilities with production requirements and stringent quality targets, ensuring optimal performance and output.
- Technical System Support: Troubleshoot and improve systems involving motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, sensors, and other industrial control devices. Provide support for equipment utilizing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to maintain operational integrity and efficiency.
- Equipment Upgrades and Integration: Participate in the planning, execution, and support of equipment upgrades, retrofits, and the integration of new machinery to enhance production capabilities and technological advancements.
- Robotics Support: Provide troubleshooting and operational support for industrial robots, with a preference for KUKA robots, to ensure seamless integration and performance within the stamping environment.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the necessary technical expertise:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of hands-on experience within the automotive industry, with a strong background in equipment engineering and automation systems.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge and practical experience with Siemens PLC systems, including Step7 and TIA Portal, as well as WinCC HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and diagnostics.
- Industrial Systems Expertise: Strong understanding of electronics, electrical systems, and industrial controls, including motors, VFDs, soft starters, sensors, and related components. Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is essential.
- Automotive Stamping Knowledge: Experience with automotive stamping processes, including presses, transfer systems, feeders, or similar equipment, and the ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and control schematics.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
While the above qualifications are mandatory, candidates with the following attributes will be highly regarded:
- Experience with KUKA robots, including operation, programming, or troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, Single-Minute Exchange of Die (SMED), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), or similar methodologies.
- Proven track record in leading equipment improvement, reliability, or optimization projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing solutions.
