Director / Senior Manager – Balance Sheet Management & Financial Planning – Advisory & Asset Management

Our client, a premier management consultancy, is seeking a seasoned and strategic financial professional to join their team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role is designed for a Director / Senior Manager with deep expertise in balance sheet management, liquidity, and financial planning & analysis (FP&A), who will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, performance insights, and scenario planning. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior leadership across finance, treasury, and business units to drive informed decision-making and enhance financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be responsible for a range of critical financial functions, including:

  • Balance Sheet & Treasury Management:
    • Lead the analysis and optimization of balance sheet structure, including asset-liability management (ALM) and liquidity positioning.
    • Develop and enhance Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) frameworks to support business performance and capital allocation.
    • Support liquidity risk management, including compliance with Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), and internal stress testing scenarios.
    • Provide insights into the key drivers of net interest income (NII) and overall balance sheet performance.
  • Financial Planning & Insights:
    • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
    • Develop and maintain management dashboards and reporting packs for executive leadership and key stakeholders.
    • Analyze business performance trends to identify risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations.
    • Support strategic initiatives by delivering clear and concise financial insights to guide decision-making.
  • Quantitative Analysis & Decision Support:
    • Build robust financial models and conduct scenario analyses to evaluate strategic options and their financial implications.
    • Translate complex financial data into meaningful insights, enabling data-driven decision-making.
    • Support high-impact decisions related to capital allocation, funding strategies, and business growth initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Partner with Treasury, Finance, Risk, and Business teams to align on financial priorities and strategic goals.
    • Engage with senior stakeholders, including the CFO, Asset-Liability Committee (ALCO), and executive committees, to present insights and recommendations.
    • Communicate financial insights clearly and effectively to both financial and non-financial audiences, fostering a collaborative decision-making environment.
  • Regulatory & Market Alignment:
    • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, with a preference for familiarity with Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) guidelines.
    • Provide strategic insights into the regulatory impacts on liquidity, capital, and balance sheet strategy.
    • Monitor market trends to assess their influence on funding costs, interest rates, and overall financial performance.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • Experience:
    • 10–18+ years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, or treasury environments, or in Big 4 advisory roles with a focus on treasury, ALM, or financial risk.
    • Proven expertise in asset-liability management (ALM), liquidity management, and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) frameworks.
    • Strong background in FP&A, forecasting, and performance analysis, with a track record of delivering actionable insights.
    • Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the broader GCC markets is highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Advanced financial modelling and quantitative analysis capabilities, with the ability to develop sophisticated models.
    • Deep understanding of balance sheet dynamics, interest rate risk (IRRBB), and liquidity frameworks.
    • Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Leadership & Behavioral Skills:
    • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.
    • Strong commercial acumen and a strategic mindset, capable of operating in a fast-paced, transformation-driven environment.
    • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to be based full-time in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Arabic is advantageous.
  • Immediate or short-notice availability is preferred for this contract engagement, which is expected to last 6–12 months with potential for extension.
