Project Engineer

About the Role

Pico Play is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, supervising, and controlling site activities to ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict adherence to quality standards, timelines, and the approved construction program. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving project success while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will play a pivotal role in the following areas:

Planning & Work Management

• Develop and maintain short-term and detailed look-ahead plans that align with the overall project program, ensuring seamless execution of site activities.
• Plan and sequence daily tasks, allocating resources such as workers and supervisors to optimize productivity and efficiency.
• Conduct daily morning briefings and toolbox talks to ensure all team members are aligned with safety protocols and project objectives before commencing work.
• Monitor progress meticulously to ensure activities remain on track with the approved schedule, and promptly escalate any delays, deviations, or risks to the Project Manager or Director.
• Coordinate material and equipment deliveries in collaboration with the procurement team to guarantee timely availability and minimize disruptions to the workflow.
• Identify and escalate procurement or delivery delays to senior management without delay, ensuring proactive resolution of potential bottlenecks.

Project Coordination

• Serve as the primary point of contact for main contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders, fostering strong collaborative relationships.
• Lead and participate in daily site meetings with quality and site teams to review ongoing and upcoming works, ensuring clarity and alignment across all parties.
• Verify that all required clearances and handovers are obtained prior to commencing works, maintaining strict compliance with project protocols.
• Issue necessary handovers and clearances to relevant parties upon completion of works, facilitating smooth transitions between project phases.

Quality Assurance & Quality Control (QA/QC) Management

• Plan, execute, and document all Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) and Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) in accordance with project requirements and the program of works.
• Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure inspections and documentation are completed punctually and in full compliance with standards.
• Maintain up-to-date inspection logs and quality records, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Enforce a strict no-work commencement policy without approved documentation and inspection clearance, upholding the highest quality benchmarks.

Material & Resource Management

• Oversee material storage, site logistics, and delivery schedules to optimize resource utilization and minimize waste.
• Monitor manpower allocation and review manpower histograms to ensure adequate and efficient deployment of labor resources.
• Track daily labor and subcontractor productivity to identify trends, address inefficiencies, and drive continuous improvement.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Responsibilities

• Ensure all site activities strictly comply with approved HSE procedures, fostering a culture of safety and accountability among all personnel.
• Verify that no work commences without prior approval of essential documentation, including Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Lifting Plans, in collaboration with the Safety Manager.
• Ensure all access equipment is inspected, maintained, and operated by trained and licensed personnel to mitigate safety risks.
• Organize and conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings with workers and the safety team to reinforce safety awareness and best practices.
• Report all accidents, incidents, or unsafe practices immediately to the appropriate authorities, ensuring prompt investigation and corrective action.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or a relevant discipline) from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on site experience in construction projects, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
• In-depth understanding of construction sequencing, QA/QC procedures, and HSE standards, with the ability to apply them effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Exceptional ability to manage multiple stakeholders, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
• Proficiency in project documentation systems such as Aconex, Procore, or similar platforms, with the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records.
• Strong communication and reporting skills, with the capacity to articulate complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
