Procurement Engineer

Position Overview

The Procurement Engineer plays a pivotal role in sourcing and acquiring high-quality technical equipment essential for industrial operations. This position requires close collaboration with design teams to identify and specify the precise equipment needed to fulfill manufacturing or construction projects in accordance with technical specifications. The Procurement Engineer is tasked with researching and evaluating potential vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely procurement to support operational efficiency and project success.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement Management: Develop and implement procurement management strategies and best practices to maximize value and efficiency in sourcing activities. This includes identifying cost-saving opportunities, optimizing supplier relationships, and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
• Market Insights and Stakeholder Engagement: Provide actionable market insights to internal stakeholders and business units to inform decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to formulate strategic procurement plans that enhance competitive advantage and support long-term business growth.
• Policy and Process Development: Contribute to the creation and implementation of a robust procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures. These initiatives are designed to improve operational performance, ensure compliance, and deliver measurable value to the organization.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain strong relationships. This collaboration aims to enhance service delivery, reduce supply chain costs, and ensure optimal performance across all procurement activities.
• Business Objectives and Performance Management: Support senior functional leaders in establishing and achieving both short-term and long-term business objectives. Utilize expert industry knowledge and advanced business models to develop strategies that strengthen business relationships and drive financial performance.
• Supplier and Material Management: Maintain and update comprehensive records of suppliers, materials, and services to ensure they meet evolving business requirements. This includes evaluating supplier performance and identifying opportunities for cost reduction and value improvement.
• Team Development and Mentorship: Lead the attraction, development, and retention of top procurement talent within the team. Provide regular feedback, coaching, and mentorship to cultivate a motivated and highly skilled team capable of interfacing effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
• Cost Reduction and Value Improvement: Actively participate in long-term cost reduction and value improvement initiatives for specific spend categories. This involves leveraging data-driven insights to identify trends, mitigate risks, and optimize procurement outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of eight years of professional experience, with at least five years in a relevant procurement or supply chain management capacity. Prior experience in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is considered a valuable asset. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering is required to ensure a strong technical foundation for evaluating and procuring specialized equipment.
