Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality assurance and quality control systems to ensure our products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving continuous improvement across manufacturing processes, fostering a culture of excellence, and mitigating risks associated with product non-conformance. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with strong analytical abilities, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for quality engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality System Development and Maintenance: Design, implement, and oversee the ongoing effectiveness of quality management systems (QMS) and associated procedures to align with industry best practices and regulatory standards, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, or other applicable frameworks.
- Inspection, Auditing, and Testing: Conduct comprehensive inspections, audits, and testing protocols to verify product and process compliance with established quality standards. Utilize advanced tools and methodologies to identify deviations and areas for enhancement.
- Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement: Analyze quality data to identify trends, defects, and root causes of non-conformance. Develop and implement data-driven corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring issues and enhance overall product quality.
- Root Cause Analysis and Problem Resolution: Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance incidents using structured methodologies such as the 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and 8D problem-solving techniques. Lead cross-functional teams to resolve issues efficiently and prevent recurrence.
- Process Optimization and Collaboration: Partner with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency. Contribute to the development of control plans, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain meticulous records of quality inspections, audits, and corrective actions. Ensure all documentation adheres to regulatory and company standards, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Supplier Quality Management: Monitor and evaluate supplier performance through audits and quality metrics. Collaborate with suppliers to address quality deficiencies and implement improvements to ensure consistent material and component quality.
- Training and Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous learning within the organization.
- Audit Support and Regulatory Compliance: Provide support during internal and external audits, including preparation, documentation review, and corrective action follow-up. Ensure adherence to industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Methodology Implementation: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to streamline processes, reduce variability, and enhance overall operational performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of hands-on experience in quality engineering or quality assurance, with a proven track record in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience requirements may vary based on employer specifications.
- In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, manufacturing processes, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and specialized quality management software.
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
- Familiarity with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, with a preference for candidates holding relevant certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
- Experience with ISO standards and auditing techniques, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or AS9100.
