About the Role
GSK Saudi Arabia is dedicated to advancing Vision 2030 and contributing to the Saudi Arabian National Agenda, including the strategic objectives of Saudization. In alignment with these goals, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Market Access Lead to drive market access initiatives across the Kingdom. This pivotal role will focus on securing sustainable patient access to GSK’s portfolio of medicines and vaccines within both public and private healthcare sectors. The Market Access Lead will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, payers, government entities, and healthcare professionals to ensure seamless integration of GSK’s products into the Saudi healthcare landscape.
Key Responsibilities
The Market Access Lead will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Strategy Development and Implementation: Design and execute national market access strategies that support product launch readiness and long-term sustainability. Ensure alignment with local regulatory, economic, and healthcare policies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders, including public payers, private insurers, hospital procurement teams, and regulatory authorities. Act as a trusted advisor to facilitate smooth negotiations and partnerships.
- Barrier Identification and Solution Design: Proactively identify access barriers and develop evidence-based solutions, such as local pilot programs or strategic partnerships, to overcome these challenges.
- Reimbursement and Value Communication: Lead the preparation of reimbursement dossiers, value propositions, and evidence summaries tailored to the Saudi market. Ensure these materials are aligned with local and regional requirements to support decision-making processes.
- Market and Payer Insights: Provide actionable market intelligence and payer insights to inform commercial, medical, and policy strategies. Monitor trends in healthcare reimbursement, pricing, and procurement to anticipate opportunities and risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in tandem with commercial, medical, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure coordinated execution during negotiations, tenders, and contracting processes. Ensure compliance with local regulations and GSK policies throughout all engagements.
Field-Based Role with Regional Engagement
This position is primarily based in Saudi Arabia, with a requirement for regular travel across the country to engage with stakeholders in diverse healthcare settings. Occasional regional travel may also be necessary to support broader market access initiatives and collaboration with GSK’s international teams.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, life sciences, health economics, public health, or a related field is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical market access, government affairs, or commercial roles within the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry is essential. Prior experience in sales, key account management, or product specialist roles is highly beneficial.
- Nationality: Candidates must be Saudi nationals.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in Arabic and a strong working proficiency in English are mandatory.
- Healthcare System Knowledge: A solid understanding of the Saudi healthcare system, including public sector payers, hospital procurement processes, and private insurers, is critical.
- Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with healthcare stakeholders, such as hospital accounts, procurement teams, or decision-makers, is highly valued.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to interpret data, develop business cases, and communicate value effectively to diverse audiences.
While the following qualifications are not mandatory, they will be considered advantageous:
- An advanced degree in health economics, business administration, or pharmacy.
- Experience in preparing reimbursement submissions, health economic models, or budget impact analyses.
- An existing network within Saudi health authorities, national procurement bodies, or major hospitals.
- Prior experience managing tenders, pricing strategies, or contracting processes in the public sector.
- Background in vaccines, specialty medicines, or experience with large pharmaceutical companies.
