About the Role
We are looking for a meticulous and highly organized General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial records, overseeing general ledger operations, and ensuring compliance with SOCPA, IFRS, and Saudi regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will play a key role in driving financial accuracy, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our financial systems and reporting frameworks.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic real estate and property management environment, where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial transparency, support audit processes, and deliver actionable insights through comprehensive financial reporting and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts: Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger by recording transactions, reconciling accounts, and updating the chart of accounts to reflect current business operations.
- Journal Entries and Adjustments: Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments to ensure financial statements are precise and compliant with accounting standards.
- Month-End and Year-End Closing: Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, including the preparation of trial balances, financial statements, and variance analysis to identify trends and discrepancies.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Perform detailed reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank accounts, intercompany transactions, fixed assets, and liabilities, while resolving any outstanding items promptly.
- Fixed Asset Accounting: Manage fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, depreciation calculations, and impairment reviews, ensuring alignment with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Intercompany Transactions: Process, reconcile, and consolidate intercompany transactions to maintain accurate financial records and support the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, management dashboards, and variance analysis to provide stakeholders with insights into financial performance and operational efficiency.
- Tax Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance with Saudi VAT regulations (ZATCA) by preparing and filing VAT returns, maintaining supporting documentation, and supporting external audit processes through the provision of accurate and timely financial records.
- ERP and Process Enhancements: Collaborate with IT and finance teams to optimize ERP systems (such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, Yardi, or MRI) and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability in financial operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2–3 years specifically in General Ledger accounting.
- Proven experience in the real estate, property management, mall leasing, retail, or commercial property sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of SOCPA, IFRS, and financial reporting standards, with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, Yardi, MRI, or similar platforms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to build complex financial models, perform data analysis, and automate reporting processes.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience working in multi-property environments, with exposure to diverse financial structures and reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with Saudi VAT regulations (ZATCA) and prior involvement in external audit processes.
