The Role

We are seeking a Senior Investment Associate to play a pivotal role in advancing Falak’s investment initiatives. This position will involve active participation in startup assessment, rigorous due diligence, strategic investment execution, and vigilant portfolio monitoring. Ideal for an individual who embodies an investor’s mindset, this role demands structured judgment, a willingness to challenge assumptions, and a strong sense of ownership throughout the investment lifecycle. The Senior Investment Associate will collaborate closely with the Investment Manager and senior leadership to evaluate high-potential opportunities, craft compelling investment recommendations, and contribute to the expansion and success of Falak’s portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Opportunity Evaluation: Assess early-stage startups in alignment with Falak’s investment thesis, analyzing critical factors such as market potential, business models, traction metrics, founder capabilities, and associated risks.
• Financial Analysis: Develop sophisticated financial models to evaluate unit economics, assess burn rate and runway, and determine funding requirements with precision.
• Due Diligence Leadership: Lead comprehensive commercial, financial, and market due diligence processes, identifying key risks and validating critical assumptions to ensure informed decision-making.
• Investment Memos: Prepare meticulously researched and investment committee-ready memos that present balanced, data-driven recommendations for consideration.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Represent Falak professionally and confidently in interactions with founders, investors, and ecosystem partners, fostering meaningful relationships that drive mutual success.
• Portfolio Monitoring: Actively track the performance of portfolio companies, ensuring timely identification of milestones achieved and emerging risks that may require intervention.

What We’re Looking For

We seek a candidate with a proven track record in early-stage investing, characterized by strong analytical thinking and a keen investment judgment. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

• Experience in evaluating pre-seed, seed, and pre-series A stage startups with a discerning eye for potential and risk.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and conducting thorough due diligence to assess investment viability.
• Exceptional ability to distill complex investment concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
• A structured and methodical approach to risk assessment and decision-making, ensuring disciplined and consistent evaluations.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to thrive in dynamic environments where information is often incomplete or evolving.
• Strong sense of ownership, exceptional communication skills, and adeptness in stakeholder management to navigate multifaceted relationships.

Experience

Candidates should have 3–5+ years of relevant experience in early-stage startup investing, with a preference for backgrounds in angel networks, investment-backed accelerators, family offices, or micro venture capital firms. Hands-on experience in financial modeling and investment due diligence is essential, while familiarity with financial reporting and portfolio management will be considered a valuable asset.
