Chief Accountant

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the financial integrity of our organization by managing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights to drive business success. Key Responsibilities

• Financial Leadership and Oversight: Supervise and manage daily accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in accordance with IFRS and other applicable standards.
• Budgetary and Cost Management: Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenditures to identify variances and implement corrective actions. Develop and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard company assets and optimize resource allocation.
• Financial Transactions and Reconciliations: Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger transactions to ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets processes to maintain financial accuracy.
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure adherence to company policies, accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirements. Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to facilitate seamless audits and inspections.
• Strategic Financial Analysis: Prepare cash flow forecasts and analyze working capital requirements to support informed decision-making. Collaborate with project managers to evaluate project profitability and financial performance, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
• Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and supervise the accounting team, fostering a high-performance culture through professional development initiatives, performance evaluations, and continuous training. Encourage collaboration and accountability to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance accounting procedures and internal financial controls. Implement best practices to streamline operations, reduce inefficiencies, and mitigate financial risks.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Prior experience in a corporate or multinational environment is advantageous.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of financial reporting principles (IFRS), budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis. Proficiency in ERP systems such as Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics, as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills, is essential.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure while meeting critical deadlines.
