Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

As the Finance Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of financial and accounting functions critical to the hotel’s operations. Your duties will include:

  • General Ledger Management: Prepare and file all General Ledger reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial standards.
  • Cash Handling and Reconciliation:
    • Conduct monthly counts of all house banks and submit discrepancies to the Financial Controller for resolution.
    • Verify that all cash and checks are deposited intact with the bank by the general cashier and hotel security.
    • Reconcile and control the operation of the hotel’s bank accounts, ensuring compliance with financial policies.
    • Investigate and report discrepancies in cash deposits, including over and short deposits, and complete the cashier over and short book to balance with the General Ledger.
  • Payroll Processing and Compliance:
    • Process and verify monthly payroll for both authorized and rank-and-file employees, ensuring compliance with hotel policies and labor regulations.
    • Prepare and calculate final pay, analyze payroll reports for discrepancies, and take corrective action in coordination with the People & Culture Manager.
    • Ensure accurate deductions for advances, season ticket loans, and other payroll-related items.
    • Prepare and submit all required payroll journals for month-end closing.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:
    • Prepare and review daily, monthly journal vouchers, and closing reports to ensure financial accuracy.
    • Analyze Profit & Loss (P&L) accounts and balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis to identify trends and variances.
    • Verify bank deposit slips against total deposits and reconcile foreign currency receipts to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
    • Calculate and report foreign exchange gains or losses as required.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance:
    • Ensure robust internal controls are in place for stores, receiving, purchasing, and issuing processes.
    • Comply with all financial reporting deadlines as outlined in RHG Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and directives from the Financial Controller.
    • Handle daily accounts receivable tasks, including following up on payments and credit meetings to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Collaboration and Guest Service:
    • Work closely with all departments to support financial operations and foster a culture of accountability and transparency.
    • Stay updated on special promotions, marketing initiatives, and relevant labor laws to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
    • Assist guests and colleagues with inquiries and requests in a courteous and professional manner to uphold RHG’s brand promise of Every Moment Matters.
    • Attend required meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development and operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the necessary skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in the hotel industry, with a proven track record in accounting and financial management.
  • Prior experience as a Chief Accountant or in a similar senior financial role is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with hotel accounting systems such as Opera, SunSystems, or equivalent platforms is a plus.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all financial transactions and reporting.
  • Willingness to accept a flexible working schedule to ensure the hotel’s uninterrupted service and operational excellence.
