Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Pharmacy Purchasing Specialist to join our dynamic Pharmacy and Supply Chain team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for procuring pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, and related supplies to ensure seamless inventory availability across our healthcare facility. Your expertise will contribute to cost-effective purchasing strategies, supplier coordination, inventory optimization, and strict adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement: Source, evaluate, and procure pharmaceuticals, medical consumables, and related supplies in alignment with hospital requirements and established procurement protocols to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels across pharmacy and clinical departments, proactively identifying shortages and coordinating timely replenishments to prevent disruptions in patient care.
• Supplier Engagement: Act as the primary liaison with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms, obtaining competitive quotations, placing purchase orders, and ensuring on-time delivery of goods through diligent follow-up and tracking.
• Data Accuracy & Performance Monitoring: Maintain precise purchasing records, track supplier performance metrics, and evaluate pricing structures to identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring product availability and quality standards.
• Compliance & Governance: Uphold rigorous compliance with hospital procurement policies, pharmaceutical regulations, and all applicable local and international regulatory requirements to safeguard operational integrity and patient safety.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in pharmacy purchasing, pharmaceutical procurement, supply chain management, or a comparable healthcare procurement environment.
• Industry Preference: Prior experience within a healthcare or hospital setting is highly desirable, offering firsthand insight into the unique demands of pharmaceutical logistics and clinical supply management.
• Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of pharmaceutical procurement processes, inventory control systems, and healthcare supply chain operations, with a commitment to continuous improvement and best practices.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in both Arabic and English is essential to facilitate effective communication with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, excellent negotiation abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
