About the Role
Master Works is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Management Specialist to join our team and play a pivotal role in enhancing our data governance, quality, and integrity across the organization. In this critical position, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust data management frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that empower data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to establish and maintain high standards for enterprise data management.
Key Responsibilities
The Data Management Specialist will oversee a broad range of responsibilities to ensure the accuracy, security, and accessibility of organizational data. Your core duties will include:
- Data Governance Leadership: Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide Data Governance frameworks, including policies, standards, procedures, and controls. This encompasses Data Quality, Metadata Management, Master Data, Reference Data, and AI Governance to ensure alignment with organizational and regulatory requirements.
- Data Quality and Metadata Management: Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for data quality, conduct comprehensive assessments, and maintain the Enterprise Data Catalog and Business Glossary. You will document data lineage, ensure compliance with organizational and NDMO (National Data Management Office) requirements, and drive initiatives to enhance data integrity.
- Master and Reference Data Governance: Standardize data definitions, assign Data Owners and business responsibilities, and maintain reference data to ensure consistency, integrity, and compliance across all enterprise systems. Your efforts will support seamless data integration and operational efficiency.
- Business Intelligence and Reporting: Design, develop, and maintain dynamic Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations by integrating multiple enterprise data sources. These tools will support business intelligence initiatives, enhance reporting capabilities, and facilitate informed decision-making across the organization.
- AI Governance Implementation: Develop and enforce AI Governance policies, standards, and controls to assess AI-related risks, review AI use cases, and ensure the ethical, responsible, and compliant deployment of AI solutions. Your role will be instrumental in fostering trust and transparency in AI-driven processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business units, IT teams, Cybersecurity, Data Owners, and other stakeholders to resolve data governance issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure the effective implementation of governance practices across the enterprise.
- Compliance and Reporting: Prepare and present comprehensive governance, compliance, quality, and maturity reports. Support NDMO and National Data Index (NDI) compliance initiatives, and promote enterprise-wide awareness of best practices in Data Governance and AI Governance.
Qualifications and Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or Data Analytics is required. A Master's degree in a related field is considered a significant advantage.
- Certifications: Relevant professional certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), DGSP (Data Governance & Stewardship Professional), Microsoft Power BI Certification, DAMA-related certifications, or AI Governance/AI Ethics certifications are highly desirable and will be a key differentiator.
- Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in Data Management or Data Governance is essential. Prior experience in implementing NDMO controls or similar enterprise data governance frameworks is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in metadata management, data quality management, master data management, and business intelligence is required. Familiarity with enterprise Data Governance platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, Alation, or equivalent is a plus. Hands-on experience with Power BI and SQL is mandatory, while knowledge of data modeling concepts, data lineage, and data architecture fundamentals is beneficial. Experience with AI Governance principles is highly desirable.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, and the capacity to lead cross-functional initiatives are critical. Proficiency in report writing, presentation skills, and project management capabilities will ensure success in this role.
