Equipment Engineer – Automotive Stamping-KAEC, KSA

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic team at a leading automotive manufacturing organization in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in enhancing equipment reliability, advancing automation initiatives, and driving continuous improvement within our state-of-the-art automotive stamping facility. You will collaborate closely with Maintenance and Process Engineering teams to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and elevate production efficiency to meet the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Equipment Engineer will be responsible for the following core functions:

• Equipment Support & Optimization: Provide expert support, troubleshooting, and optimization for automotive stamping equipment, with a strong emphasis on automation, controls, reliability, and lean manufacturing principles.
• PLC & Control Systems: Utilize Siemens PLC systems, including Step7 and TIA Portal, to support, troubleshoot, and enhance equipment performance. Configure and set up new references on production lines to ensure seamless operations.
• HMI/SCADA Management: Work with WinCC HMI/SCADA systems to monitor equipment performance, diagnose issues, and implement interface improvements that enhance operational visibility and control.
• Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead equipment improvement projects focused on cycle time reduction, reliability enhancement, and process stability. Analyze machine performance data and apply lean manufacturing strategies to boost equipment health and productivity.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Maintenance teams to resolve complex electrical, electronic, automation, and control-related issues. Work closely with Process Engineering to align equipment capabilities with production requirements and quality objectives.
• System Troubleshooting & Enhancement: Diagnose and improve systems involving motors, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), soft starters, sensors, and other industrial control devices. Support equipment that incorporates hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
• Equipment Upgrades & Integration: Participate in the planning, execution, and support of equipment upgrades, retrofits, and the integration of new machinery to ensure alignment with evolving production demands.
• Industrial Robotics Support: Provide troubleshooting and improvement support for industrial robots, with a preference for KUKA robots, to enhance automation and precision in stamping operations.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, preferably within stamping operations.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Siemens PLC systems (Step7 and TIA Portal) and WinCC HMI/SCADA systems. In-depth knowledge of electronics, electrical systems, and industrial controls, including motors, VFDs, soft starters, sensors, and related components.
• System Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and control schematics.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with KUKA robots, including operation, programming, or troubleshooting. Familiarity with lean manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, SMED, TPM, or similar methodologies. Proven track record in leading equipment improvement, reliability, or optimization projects. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
