Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced MEP - Testing & Commissioning professional to lead the meticulous planning and execution of comprehensive testing and commissioning (T&C) activities for HVAC, Electrical, ELV, Fire Protection, and Plumbing systems. This critical role involves aligning T&C processes with project milestones and final handover timelines to ensure seamless integration and operational readiness. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in supervising pre-commissioning activities, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and validating system performance to meet stringent quality and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

The MEP - Testing & Commissioning Engineer will be responsible for the following core duties:

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop and execute a detailed T&C plan that aligns with project schedules, ensuring all MEP systems are commissioned within the stipulated timelines. Coordinate with project managers to integrate T&C activities with overall project milestones and final handover requirements.
  • Pre-Commissioning Supervision: Oversee and validate critical pre-commissioning tasks, including pressure testing, continuity checks, meggering, pipeline flushing, air balancing, loop checks, and readiness reviews across all MEP systems. Ensure that all systems are meticulously prepared for functional testing and commissioning.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Act as a liaison between civil, architectural, and MEP execution teams to confirm that systems are installation-ready for testing. Facilitate seamless communication with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), vendors, consultants, and client representatives to conduct technical validations and joint inspections.
  • Functional Testing and Validation: Lead system-wise functional testing, including HVAC system controls and performance checks, DG synchronization, transformer energization, pump and lighting controls, fire alarm simulations, BMS trials, water flow and pressure testing, and other critical evaluations. Ensure that all systems operate reliably and comply with regulatory and project-specific requirements.
  • Documentation and Handover Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the T&C process, including test protocols, checklists, equipment calibration certificates, commissioning reports, red-marked drawings, and client sign-offs. Organize and maintain digital records to ensure all submission-ready packages are complete and ready for final handover.

Qualifications and Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Educational Background: A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field. Professional certifications in MEP systems, commissioning, or relevant disciplines are highly desirable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience in MEP systems, particularly in HVAC, Electrical, ELV, Fire Protection, and Plumbing. Strong knowledge of testing protocols, commissioning procedures, and industry standards such as NFPA, ASHRAE, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership and Coordination: Proven ability to lead and supervise multidisciplinary teams, including contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration and resolve technical challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to documentation, testing, and validation processes. Ability to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues during testing and commissioning phases. Ability to make data-driven decisions to ensure system reliability and performance.

Work Environment

The MEP - Testing & Commissioning Engineer will operate in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, often working on-site at project locations. The role requires flexibility to accommodate project schedules, including evenings, weekends, or extended hours as needed. Travel may be required to vendor facilities, client sites, or other project-related locations.
