Position Overview
As a pivotal member of the executive leadership team, the Strategy Analyst plays a critical role in shaping and executing the healthcare organization’s long-term vision. This position is designed to bridge the gap between high-level strategic intent and operational execution, ensuring that the organization’s goals are not only clearly defined but also rigorously monitored and achieved. By leveraging the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework, advanced data analytics, and cross-functional collaboration, the Strategy Analyst drives evidence-based decision-making that enhances organizational performance and advances the mission of delivering exceptional, patient-centered healthcare. The role requires a blend of analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills to translate complex data into actionable insights for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Organizational Leadership and Alignment
The Strategy Analyst is responsible for leading and supporting the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) in the development and execution of the organization’s annual and multi-year strategic plans. This includes:
- Facilitating cross-departmental strategy alignment workshops to ensure all business units are coherently linked to the enterprise strategic plan.
- Designing, developing, and continuously refining the organizational Balanced Scorecard (BSC) across its four key perspectives: Financial, Customer, Internal Processes, and Learning & Growth.
- Translating enterprise-level strategic objectives into departmental scorecards and operational targets, ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment throughout the organization.
- Engaging with senior leadership and cross-functional heads to gather data, validate strategic assumptions, and foster organizational buy-in for strategic initiatives.
- Identifying strategic-level risks, trends, and deviations, and providing analytical recommendations to the CSO with supporting evidence and proposed corrective actions.
- Assessing capability gaps in strategic thinking and BSC application across the organization, advising on training needs, and contributing to strategic literacy programs.
Data-Driven Insights and Strategic Analysis
The Strategy Analyst will perform advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis on clinical, operational, and financial datasets to uncover trends, performance gaps, and strategic opportunities. This includes:
- Designing and maintaining the KPI framework, defining measures and targets, and building the architecture of dashboards and visual reports using tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Developing financial models, conducting scenario analyses, and performing cost-benefit and ROI assessments to support strategic investment decisions and recommendations to the CSO.
- Monitoring the strategic project portfolio to ensure alignment with the BSC and strategic objectives, identifying portfolio-level risks and strategic gaps.
- Conducting impact assessments and cost-benefit analyses for process improvement initiatives, evaluating post-implementation outcomes, and integrating findings into the BSC and strategic reporting.
- Responding to time-sensitive analytical requests from the CSO and executive team, conducting rapid research and structured analysis to inform urgent strategic decisions.
Strategic Communication and Reporting
The Strategy Analyst will serve as a key liaison between the executive leadership team and the broader organization, ensuring clarity and transparency in strategic communication. This includes:
- Preparing and presenting high-level strategic performance reports, including KPI dashboards, variance analyses, and executive scorecards, for the CSO, C-Suite, and Board of Directors.
- Authoring strategic presentations, memos, and briefing documents for the CSO, C-Suite, and Board, and leading the preparation of materials for strategic planning retreats and board-level performance reviews.
- Attending strategic steering committees and executive meetings as an analytical resource, contributing insights, and following up on strategic action items.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and a proven ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights. The following qualifications and experience are required:
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field; a master’s degree or MBA is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in strategic planning, business intelligence, or a related analytical role, preferably within the healthcare industry.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including financial modeling and scenario analysis.
- Strong understanding of the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework and experience in designing and implementing scorecards and KPI frameworks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to executive audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational alignment.
- Experience in healthcare strategic planning, performance management, or a related field is a strong plus.
