Resident Engineer - Mechanical

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Resident Engineer – Mechanical to join our dynamic team at Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Key Responsibilities

The Resident Engineer – Mechanical will be responsible for a wide range of critical tasks, including:

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert mechanical engineering guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from conceptual design to commissioning and handover. Lead technical reviews, resolve complex engineering challenges, and ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Project Oversight: Monitor and supervise mechanical installations, ensuring compliance with project specifications, timelines, and budget constraints. Conduct regular site inspections to verify workmanship, quality control, and adherence to safety protocols.
• Collaboration & Coordination: Work closely with architects, contractors, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate seamless project execution. Act as a liaison between technical teams and senior management to align project objectives with organizational goals.
• Quality Assurance: Implement and enforce rigorous quality assurance and control measures to ensure all mechanical systems meet or exceed performance and safety standards. Review and approve technical documentation, including drawings, calculations, and reports.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to project schedules or budgets. Address non-conformances promptly and propose corrective actions to maintain project integrity.
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all mechanical installations comply with local, national, and international codes, standards, and regulations. Maintain accurate records of inspections, tests, and certifications for audit and regulatory purposes.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating emerging technologies, materials, and methodologies to enhance project outcomes and operational efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng) are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role on large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or construction projects.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and industrial machinery. Familiarity with CAD software, BIM tools, and project management systems is essential.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of international codes and standards, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO, and local Saudi regulations (e.g., SASO, SCE).
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities. Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts effectively.
• Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred. Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or quality assurance (e.g., ISO 9001) are advantageous.
