About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Equipment Engineer to join our dynamic automotive manufacturing team at the King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) facility in Saudi Arabia. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in enhancing equipment reliability, advancing automation initiatives, and driving continuous improvement within our state-of-the-art automotive stamping operations. You will collaborate closely with Maintenance and Process Engineering teams to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime, and elevate overall production efficiency. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge manufacturing processes while working with advanced automation technologies and industrial systems.

Key Responsibilities

The Equipment Engineer will be responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and enhancing automotive stamping equipment, with a strong emphasis on automation, controls, reliability, and lean manufacturing principles. Your core duties will include:

  • Equipment Optimization and Troubleshooting: Provide expert support for automotive stamping equipment, utilizing Siemens PLC systems, including Step7 and TIA Portal, to diagnose, resolve, and optimize performance issues. Ensure minimal disruption to production schedules through proactive maintenance and rapid response to technical challenges.
  • Automation and Control Systems: Configure and set up new references on production lines to meet evolving manufacturing demands. Utilize WinCC HMI/SCADA systems for real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and interface improvements, ensuring seamless integration with production processes.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Lead and participate in equipment improvement projects focused on reducing cycle times, enhancing reliability, and stabilizing processes. Implement lean manufacturing strategies to improve equipment health, productivity, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in tandem with Maintenance teams to address complex electrical, electronic, automation, and control-related issues. Partner with Process Engineering to align equipment capabilities with production requirements and stringent quality standards.
  • Technical System Support: Troubleshoot and enhance systems involving motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, sensors, and other industrial control devices. Provide support for hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal equipment functionality.
  • Equipment Upgrades and Integration: Participate in the planning, execution, and integration of equipment upgrades, retrofits, and new installations. Support and troubleshoot industrial robots, with preference given to experience with KUKA robots, to enhance automation and precision in stamping operations.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Saudi National.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on stamping processes.
  • Proven expertise in Siemens PLC systems, including Step7 and TIA Portal, for programming, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Experience with WinCC HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and control applications.
  • Strong technical background in electronics, electrical systems, and industrial controls, including motors, VFDs, soft starters, and sensors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems relevant to automotive stamping equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and control schematics with precision.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with KUKA robots, including operation, programming, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing methodologies such as Kaizen, SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die), TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), or similar frameworks.
  • Proven track record in leading equipment improvement, reliability, or optimization projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
