Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Engineer / Database Administrator (DBA) to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, performance, integrity, and security of our enterprise database systems. Your expertise will ensure seamless data management, high availability, and optimal performance across all our systems. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will contribute to the reliability and efficiency of our database environments, supporting the company’s mission to deliver exceptional IT solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The Database Engineer / DBA will be tasked with the following core responsibilities:

• Database Design and Implementation: Develop and maintain high-availability database systems that meet business requirements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Data Management and Access Control: Define user roles, manage data access permissions, and ensure secure distribution of data across systems.
• 24/7 Database Operations: Guarantee continuous database availability, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless data flow across all integrated systems.
• Performance Optimization: Implement strategies for high-speed transaction recovery, performance tuning, and query optimization to enhance system efficiency.
• Backup and Recovery: Design and execute robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard critical data and ensure business continuity.
• Security and Compliance: Conduct regular testing to validate data security, privacy, and integrity, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Database Support and Troubleshooting: Provide proactive and reactive support to resolve database-related issues, minimizing disruptions to operations.
• User Training and Documentation: Train end-users on database usage and best practices, while maintaining comprehensive documentation of database policies, procedures, and standards.
• System Monitoring and Maintenance: Continuously monitor database performance, apply necessary updates, patches, and upgrades, and stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.

Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in database administration or a related role, with a proven track record in managing enterprise-level database systems.
• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with database systems, end-user applications, and a deep understanding of SQL, backup and recovery processes, and data security principles.
• Database Design and Development: Strong expertise in database design, documentation, and coding, with the ability to translate business requirements into efficient database solutions.
• Tool Familiarity: Proficiency with DBA tools, third-party solutions, and APIs to enhance database functionality and integration.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve complex database issues efficiently.
• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Professional certifications such as MCSE (Data Management & Analytics) are highly desirable.
• Core Competencies: Strong data management skills, performance optimization expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and security.
