Position Overview
Our client, a prominent PIF-backed manufacturing enterprise, is expanding its advanced manufacturing team during a pivotal startup phase. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process & Materials Engineering Manager to lead process engineering initiatives, drive industrialization efforts, and oversee materials development to ensure operational excellence and sustainable growth. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in process engineering, production optimization, and materials science, particularly within polymer, rubber, chemical, petrochemical, plastics, automotive, or related industries.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance with industry standards. Core responsibilities include:
- Process Engineering & Industrialization: Develop, refine, and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Lead the industrialization of new products, ensuring seamless transition from development to full-scale production.
- Materials Development & Innovation: Spearhead research and development initiatives focused on advanced materials, including polymers, rubbers, and composites, to meet evolving market demands and regulatory requirements.
- Production & Operations Management: Oversee daily manufacturing operations, implement best practices, and ensure adherence to production schedules, cost targets, and quality benchmarks.
- Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing: Champion continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to drive operational efficiency, eliminate inefficiencies, and foster a culture of innovation.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Implement robust quality management systems, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and control plans, to maintain high standards of product integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with R&D, production, supply chain, and HSE teams to align engineering strategies with business objectives, ensuring seamless integration of processes and technologies.
- Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance: Ensure all manufacturing processes and materials comply with local and international HSE regulations, minimizing risks and promoting a safe working environment.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage analytical tools and methodologies to assess process performance, identify trends, and implement data-backed solutions for continuous enhancement.
Qualifications & Skills
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in process engineering, manufacturing operations, industrialization, or materials development within polymer, rubber, chemical, petrochemical, plastics, automotive, or other relevant industries.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in process validation, root cause analysis, and quality management tools such as FMEA, SPC, and control plans. Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex data, identify root causes of inefficiencies, and implement effective solutions to drive operational improvements.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams, fostering innovation, and driving technical excellence in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Communication & Language: Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
