Resident Engineer - Electrical

Position Overview

In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary technical authority on-site, ensuring the successful execution of electrical engineering projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with industry regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in overseeing the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, driving operational excellence, and delivering exceptional results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance and direction to the project team, including engineers, technicians, and contractors, to ensure adherence to electrical engineering best practices and project specifications.
• Project Oversight: Monitor and manage all aspects of electrical engineering activities on-site, including reviewing design documents, approving shop drawings, and verifying compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, or local regulations).
• Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous inspections and audits to validate the integrity, functionality, and safety of electrical installations, systems, and equipment, mitigating risks and preventing potential failures.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the liaison between Jacobs, clients, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities, fostering clear communication, resolving conflicts, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical reports, as-built drawings, and project documentation, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety by enforcing Jacobs’ safety protocols, conducting hazard assessments, and ensuring all electrical work adheres to local and international safety standards, including OSHA and NFPA 70E.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues promptly, leveraging analytical skills and industry knowledge to minimize downtime and optimize system performance.
• Training & Mentorship: Support the professional development of junior engineers and technical staff through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and training initiatives, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Qualifications & Competencies

To excel in this role, you must possess a robust educational background, extensive experience, and a commitment to excellence in electrical engineering. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEng, or equivalent) are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role on large-scale infrastructure, industrial, or commercial projects.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, control systems, and renewable energy integration. Familiarity with software tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or Revit is advantageous.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of international and local electrical codes, standards, and regulations, including NEC, IEC, and Saudi Aramco or SABIC standards where applicable.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of managing stakeholders, resolving conflicts, and driving projects to successful completion.
• Certifications: Valid professional engineering license (PE) or equivalent certification is preferred. Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) are a plus.
