Senior Manager (Construction Waste)

Position Overview

Mace, a leading global construction and consultancy firm, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager to lead our Construction Waste Management initiatives in Riyadh. This pivotal role will be responsible for overseeing the strategic development, implementation, and optimization of waste reduction, recycling, and sustainable disposal practices across all construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction waste management, a deep understanding of local and international sustainability regulations, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence in large-scale infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute comprehensive waste management strategies aligned with Mace’s sustainability goals and client requirements, ensuring compliance with local and international environmental regulations.
• Project Oversight: Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of waste management systems for construction projects, including waste audits, segregation protocols, and recycling initiatives to minimize environmental impact.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams, subcontractors, and external partners to foster a culture of sustainability, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned with waste reduction targets and best practices.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Saudi Green Building Council (SGBC) guidelines, local municipal regulations, and international standards such as ISO 14001, while maintaining meticulous documentation and reporting.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement cutting-edge waste management technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve sustainability performance across projects.
• Team Development: Mentor and lead a team of waste management professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations to ensure operational excellence and professional growth.
• Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of resources, including budgeting for waste management initiatives, procurement of sustainable materials, and optimization of waste disposal contracts.
• Reporting and Analysis: Generate detailed reports on waste generation, recycling rates, and sustainability metrics, presenting insights to senior leadership and clients to drive data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Waste Management, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., LEED, WELL, or NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction waste management, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial or leadership role. Experience in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in waste management software, sustainability reporting tools, and familiarity with local regulatory frameworks. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in Arabic is a significant advantage.
