About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Data Engineer to join our Data Analytics & Engineering team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the continuous maintenance, configuration, and administration of Microsoft Fabric at an enterprise scale. Your expertise will ensure secure access, compliance with regulatory standards, operational integrity, and seamless support for enterprise-wide data operations across all subsidiaries. This position demands a deep understanding of data platform administration, security protocols, and automation to drive efficiency and scalability within our organization.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, your core responsibilities will include:

• Access and Security Management: Configure and manage user access in Microsoft Fabric using Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and Microsoft Entra ID, ensuring secure and compliant access to workspaces, datasets, and reports.
• Workspace Administration: Create, maintain, and optimize workspaces in alignment with business unit requirements, applying standardized naming conventions and governance frameworks.
• Compliance and Governance: Implement robust security policies, data sensitivity labels, and encryption settings to ensure adherence to GDPR, SOC 2, and internal regulatory frameworks. Assist in developing and maintaining governance frameworks for data lakes and lakehouses.
• Performance and Scalability: Monitor Fabric capacity units (CUs) and usage metrics to optimize system performance, ensure scalability, and troubleshoot operational issues. Efficiently allocate resources to maintain platform uptime and availability.
• Automation and Documentation: Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts or utilize Fabric Admin APIs to automate administrative tasks, reporting, and monitoring. Create and update detailed documentation of workspace configurations, access policies, and operational processes.
• Collaboration and Support: Provide technical support and training to end-users, fostering a culture of data literacy and operational excellence. Collaborate closely with IT, data governance, and business teams to support enterprise-wide data initiatives and integration efforts.
• Strategic Alignment: Ensure that Microsoft Fabric configurations are strategically aligned with organizational objectives, driving innovation and efficiency in data operations.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Professional Background: Minimum of 3 years in IT administration, with at least 2 years dedicated to administering Microsoft Fabric or Azure-based data platforms. Hands-on experience in managing workspaces, user access, and tenant settings within Microsoft Fabric is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric administration, including workspace setup, Entra ID integration, and capacity management. A deep understanding of Microsoft 365 security and compliance tools, such as Microsoft Purview, is required. Familiarity with PowerShell scripting or Fabric Admin APIs for automation is highly desirable.
• Data Platform Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of data platform concepts, including data lakes, lakehouses, and governance frameworks, is critical to ensure seamless data operations.
• Education and Certifications: A Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is required. Preferred certifications include the Microsoft Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600) or Microsoft 365 Administrator (MS-102).
