Electrical Engineer / Electrical Operations Subject Matter Expert (Data Centers)

Position Overview

Decima International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Engineer / Electrical Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) specializing in data centers to join our team in Riyadh. This critical role requires an individual with deep technical expertise in electrical systems, infrastructure design, and operational excellence to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our data center facilities. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing electrical operations, implementing best practices, and supporting the continuous improvement of our data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical System Design and Optimization: Lead the design, evaluation, and optimization of electrical systems for data centers, including power distribution, backup systems, and energy efficiency measures. Ensure compliance with international standards and local regulations.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee electrical operations to maintain high availability, reliability, and uptime for critical data center infrastructure. Develop and implement operational procedures to minimize risks and enhance performance.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and resolution for electrical issues, ensuring rapid response to incidents and proactive maintenance to prevent disruptions.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to industry standards (e.g., ANSI, IEEE, NFPA) and local safety regulations. Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, facilities, and project management, to align electrical infrastructure with business objectives and technological advancements.
• Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies, such as energy storage systems, smart grid solutions, and renewable energy integration, to enhance sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
• Training and Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and operational staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing within the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., PE, CEM, or LEED) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years focused on data center electrical systems, operations, or infrastructure management.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical system design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar), power quality analysis, and familiarity with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or Certified Electrical Inspector (CEI) are advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
