Position Overview
Parsons, a global leader in engineering and construction services, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Assurance Director to join our dynamic team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing and implementing robust safety assurance programs to ensure compliance with international standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety excellence, minimizing risks, and promoting a secure working environment for all employees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive safety assurance strategies aligned with Parsons’ corporate objectives and industry best practices. Ensure alignment with local and international safety regulations, including OSHA, ISO 45001, and other relevant standards.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Conduct thorough risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions. Ensure all projects and operations adhere to safety protocols, mitigating risks to personnel, assets, and the environment.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Create, review, and update safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Ensure policies are communicated effectively and enforced consistently across all levels of the organization.
- Training and Awareness: Design and deliver safety training programs to enhance employee awareness and competency in safety practices. Foster a proactive safety culture through continuous education, engagement initiatives, and leadership by example.
- Incident Investigation and Reporting: Lead the investigation of safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Maintain accurate records and report findings to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and external partners to integrate safety assurance into all phases of project execution. Serve as a liaison with regulatory authorities, clients, and industry peers to ensure transparency and compliance.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance. Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership, highlighting trends, achievements, and areas for improvement.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in safety assurance, risk management, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial capacity. Experience in the engineering, construction, or oil and gas sectors is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in safety management systems (e.g., ISO 45001), risk assessment tools, and incident reporting software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and implement effective solutions.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities. Ability to influence stakeholders, drive cultural change, and inspire teams to prioritize safety.
- Certifications: Valid certifications in occupational health and safety (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) are required. Additional certifications in project management or environmental safety are advantageous.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
