Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned and commercially savvy Claims Specialist to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the company’s contractual interests across a diverse portfolio of large-scale projects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This position is ideal for a highly experienced professional who excels in the preparation, management, and resolution of contractual claims within the retail, commercial, healthcare, residential, and mixed-use sectors. The successful candidate will ensure full compliance with FIDIC contract conditions and applicable Saudi regulations while providing strategic guidance to project teams.
Key Responsibilities
The Claims Specialist will be responsible for the following core functions:
- Claims Preparation and Management: Utilize legal and commercial expertise to identify, prepare, and submit contractual claims, including extension of time (EOT), delay, and cost claims, in strict adherence to contract requirements and FIDIC conditions.
- Contract Review and Analysis: Conduct thorough reviews of contracts, project records, and correspondence to support the preparation of claims and responses, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Proactive Claim Monitoring: Continuously monitor project progress to identify potential claim events, ensuring timely issuance of notices and proactive risk mitigation.
- Contractual Advisory: Provide day-to-day contractual advice to project teams, clarifying rights and obligations under the contract to prevent disputes and enhance project execution.
- Documentation and Correspondence: Draft, review, and finalize contractual letters, notices, and formal claim documents with precision and professionalism.
- Collaboration with Planning Engineers: Work closely with planning engineers to analyze delays, assess their impact, and prepare comprehensive time impact assessments to support claim validity.
- Subcontractor and Supplier Claims: Review, evaluate, and respond to claims submitted by subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring fair and compliant resolutions.
- Dispute Resolution Support: Facilitate the resolution of disputes through negotiation and collaboration with legal counsel when necessary, minimizing exposure to financial and operational risks.
- Claims Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of all claims-related documentation, ensuring proper organization and accessibility for audits or legal proceedings.
- Project Close-Out Support: Assist in the preparation of final accounts, variation settlements, and project close-out activities to ensure all contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Contractual Awareness and Training: Guide and support project teams on best practices in documentation and contractual awareness, fostering a culture of compliance and risk mitigation.
Qualifications and Requirements
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical) from a recognized university.
- A Post Graduate Diploma in Law is considered a valuable asset.
- Experience:
- A minimum of 15 to 20 years of hands-on experience in claims, contracts, or commercial management within the construction industry.
- Proven expertise in working with FIDIC contracts, ensuring familiarity with their clauses and application.
- In-depth knowledge of Saudi construction regulations and local project environments, including compliance with local laws and industry standards.
- A strong background in the legal or commercial aspects of construction, with a track record of successfully navigating complex contractual disputes.
