Role Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Projects to join our team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This senior leadership position offers a unique opportunity to lead the strategic planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact projects while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and stakeholder expectations. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and articulate a clear project vision and strategic roadmap that aligns with organizational goals and long-term objectives.
- Provide inspirational leadership to project teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Champion industry best practices and process improvements to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
- Mentor and develop project management professionals, nurturing a culture of continuous learning and professional advancement.
Project Planning & Execution
- Oversee the comprehensive planning, scheduling, and execution of major projects from inception to completion.
- Establish robust project frameworks, including scope definition, resource allocation, and timeline management to ensure seamless delivery.
- Ensure all project deliverables are clearly defined, rigorously tracked, and delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including engineering, procurement, finance, and quality assurance—to facilitate seamless project execution.
Financial Management & Cost Control
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and rigorous cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project expenditures against approved budgets and implement corrective measures when necessary to maintain financial discipline.
- Prepare detailed financial reports and performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
- Leverage data-driven insights to optimize resource allocation and enhance budgetary efficiency.
Risk & Compliance Management
- Implement comprehensive risk management frameworks to identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks proactively.
- Ensure all projects adhere to contractual obligations, regulatory standards, and organizational policies without compromise.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans, including appropriate reserves, to address identified risks and uncertainties.
- Lead the management of claims, disputes, and change orders with transparency, integrity, and adherence to contractual terms.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Serve as the primary liaison for clients, owners, and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment and satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key stakeholders through consistent, transparent, and proactive communication.
- Prepare and present project status reports, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership teams.
- Facilitate timely and effective communication of project progress, challenges, and decisions to all relevant parties to ensure operational clarity.
Contract & Vendor Management
- Oversee contract administration, including negotiation, execution, and compliance monitoring to safeguard organizational interests.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors and vendors, ensuring adherence to performance standards and contractual obligations.
- Review and approve contractual correspondence and agreements, engaging legal resources as needed to mitigate risks.
- Monitor vendor compliance with insurance, safety, and quality requirements to uphold project integrity and standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field, complemented by an advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) in project management. A minimum of 15 years of progressive project management experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, is required. Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale, complex projects within the infrastructure, construction, or engineering sectors is essential. Strong financial acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven ability to drive operational excellence are critical for success in this role. Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is a distinct advantage.
