Portfolio Controls Manager

Role Overview

As a critical member of Vision Industries’ leadership team, the Portfolio Controls Manager will oversee the strategic monitoring, control, and reporting of a high-impact portfolio of projects. This role is instrumental in establishing robust portfolio controls, enforcing financial discipline, and providing data-driven visibility across all project phases—from initial development through construction and into operational execution. The successful candidate will consolidate complex project data, track capital and operational expenditures (CAPEX/OPEX), and deliver actionable insights that empower executive decision-making and drive portfolio optimization. By maintaining rigorous financial and performance standards, this position ensures alignment with corporate objectives while mitigating risks and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Portfolio Performance Monitoring: Develop and maintain dynamic portfolio dashboards that provide real-time visibility into project status, schedules, CAPEX/OPEX performance, and key performance indicators (KPIs) across all phases of development, construction, and operation.
• Financial and Schedule Governance: Track cost, schedule, and performance against approved baselines, proactively identifying early warning signals for deviations and implementing corrective actions to maintain alignment with strategic goals.
• Variance Analysis and Financial Metrics: Conduct detailed variance analysis on budgets, timelines, and financial performance, with a focus on critical metrics such as Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and cost efficiency to support informed investment decisions.
• Data Consolidation and Stakeholder Management: Serve as the central hub for portfolio data, integrating inputs from multiple stakeholders and systems to ensure consistency, accuracy, and transparency in reporting.
• Analytical Reporting and Tool Development: Design and maintain advanced analytical dashboards and reporting tools using platforms such as Power BI, Excel, and Primavera P6 to facilitate data-driven decision-making and executive-level insights.
• Risk and Compliance Oversight: Monitor and manage portfolio-level risks, including delays, cost overruns, and external factors, while ensuring adherence to governance frameworks, reporting standards, and internal controls to uphold organizational integrity.
• Executive Reporting and Strategic Support: Prepare and present executive reports, portfolio reviews, and investment committee materials that clearly communicate performance trends, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership and board members.
• Process Improvement and Innovation: Drive the continuous enhancement of portfolio management processes and reporting frameworks, leveraging industry best practices and technological advancements to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess a minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in project controls, planning, cost control, or risk management, with a proven track record in managing mega or giga-scale projects within energy, solar manufacturing, wind manufacturing, infrastructure, or industrial sectors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in CAPEX/OPEX tracking, cost control, and schedule management, supported by hands-on proficiency with industry-standard tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and advanced Excel and Power BI capabilities.

Strong financial acumen is essential, including a comprehensive understanding of project financials such as IRR, Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE), forecasting, and variance analysis. The ability to distill complex data into clear, executive-level reports and visualizations is critical, as is the capacity to consolidate and interpret information from diverse projects and stakeholders. Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or a related field) is mandatory, with additional certifications in project management or controls considered advantageous.
