Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Auditor to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for independently planning, executing, and completing comprehensive internal audit assignments to deliver objective assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying critical risks, ensuring strict compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies, and providing actionable recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, financial integrity, and overall organizational performance. Organizational Responsibilities
The Senior Auditor will play a key role in strengthening the organization’s governance and risk management framework through the execution of high-quality audit activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting audits in accordance with approved audit plans, internal audit methodologies, and professional standards to ensure consistency and reliability;
- Maintaining unwavering independence, objectivity, and confidentiality in all audit engagements;
- Fostering a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization;
- Delivering reliable assurance and value-added recommendations to management to drive informed decision-making;
- Collaborating with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and accreditation agencies to facilitate seamless compliance and alignment with industry standards.
Functional Accountabilities
The Senior Auditor will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of audit engagements, including:
Audit Planning & Execution
- Developing and executing comprehensive audit programs, including defining objectives, scope, and testing procedures;
- Conducting financial, operational, compliance, and risk-based audits with a focus on identifying control deficiencies and improvement opportunities;
- Performing detailed fieldwork, including walkthroughs, control testing, and substantive testing to gather sufficient audit evidence;
- Ensuring that all audit working papers are complete, accurate, and appropriately documented in accordance with professional standards.
Risk & Control Assessment
- Identifying key risks and evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls across various functions;
- Assessing compliance with internal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations to mitigate potential exposure;
- Analyzing processes to uncover inefficiencies, control gaps, and opportunities for enhancement;
- Providing insights and recommendations to strengthen risk management and internal control frameworks.
Reporting & Communication
- Preparing clear, concise, and timely audit reports that outline findings, root causes, associated risks, and actionable recommendations;
- Presenting audit results effectively to auditees and senior management, ensuring transparency and understanding;
- Supporting management in developing practical and sustainable corrective action plans to address audit findings;
- Facilitating constructive dialogue to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
Follow-Up & Monitoring
- Tracking the implementation of agreed-upon audit recommendations to ensure timely resolution;
- Conducting follow-up reviews to verify the effectiveness of corrective actions and mitigate recurring issues;
- Escalating overdue or high-risk issues to senior management and relevant stakeholders as appropriate.
Advisory & Special Assignments
- Providing expert advisory support on internal controls, risk management, and process improvement initiatives;
- Participating in special audits, investigations, or management-requested reviews to address critical concerns;
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of audit methodologies, tools, and practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Key Stakeholders
The Senior Auditor will engage with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including:
Internal Stakeholders
- Finance, IT, Clinical, and Operations Departments;
- Compliance, Risk Management, and Quality Teams;
- Department Heads and senior leadership;
- All staff across the organization.
External Stakeholders
- External Auditors;
- Regulatory Bodies, including the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA);
- Accreditation Agencies, such as the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI).
Qualifications & Requirements
Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive auditing experience, preferably within a healthcare or hospital environment;
- In-depth understanding of hospital operations and healthcare regulations in Saudi Arabia;
- Familiarity with Saudi healthcare compliance standards and accreditation requirements, particularly CBAHI;
- Expertise in internal auditing standards, such as those outlined by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), as well as risk management and internal control frameworks;
- Strong knowledge of financial and operational auditing principles and practices;
- Proficiency in using auditing software and data analytics tools is considered advantageous;
- Prior experience collaborating with regulatory bodies in Saudi Arabia is highly preferred;
- Demonstrated ability to conduct audits in compliance with both local and international standards.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (required);
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification (required);
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) certification (advantageous);
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification (advantageous);
- Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification (advantageous).
