Plan International, a global humanitarian organization operating in over 80 developing countries across Africa, Asia, and the Americas, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Asistente de Pagos (Payments Assistant) to join our team in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and transparency of financial transactions while upholding the organization’s commitment to child protection, gender equality, and non-discrimination. The position is subject to donor funding availability and offers a dynamic environment where financial integrity and operational excellence are paramount.

Core Responsibilities

The role encompasses a broad spectrum of financial and administrative duties, including:

This involves generating checks or batch transfers, uploading payment files to banking systems, and ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in SAP.
  • Financial Record-Keeping: Maintaining and safeguarding both active and historical financial documentation, including confidential banking information, supplier records, and tax-related files. The role requires meticulous organization and archival of financial data to ensure compliance with audit requirements and organizational standards.

This includes verifying the accuracy of financial data, preparing accounting entries in SAP, and generating reports to support transparency and accountability.
  • Operational Support: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including project sub-management and technical staff, to facilitate the timely disbursement of funds, particularly for project advances and liquidations. The role involves communicating payment statuses, resolving discrepancies, and providing updates to stakeholders to ensure project continuity.
  • Problem-Solving and Risk Mitigation: Proactively identifying and addressing operational challenges that may disrupt payment flows, such as system bottlenecks or banking delays. The Asistente de Pagos will implement contingency measures, prioritize tasks, and maintain open communication channels to mitigate risks and ensure uninterrupted financial operations.
