Key Responsibilities

As a Founding Principal Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical architecture of our Smartomics app and other innovative products. Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design, development, and deployment of full-stack solutions that meet the highest standards of performance, security, and scalability.
• Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and researchers, to ensure that our technology aligns with our strategic goals.
• Mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
• Driving the adoption of best practices in software development, including Agile methodologies, DevOps, and cloud-native architectures.

As the Owner of Our Data Platform, you will be responsible for building and maintaining a secure, HIPAA-compliant data infrastructure that enables seamless integration and analysis of multimodal health data. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing a scalable, cloud-based data platform on AWS, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Developing and optimizing data pipelines to process, store, and analyze large volumes of genomic and health data efficiently.
• Collaborating with data scientists and researchers to ensure that our platform supports advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives.
• Establishing robust security measures and governance frameworks to protect sensitive health information and maintain trust with our stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

We are seeking candidates who bring a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for healthcare innovation. For both roles, the ideal candidate will possess:

• Full-Stack Development Expertise: A minimum of 7 years of hands-on experience in software development, with proficiency in both front-end and back-end technologies.
• Cloud and Infrastructure Knowledge: Minimum of 3 years of experience working with AWS, including designing and managing HIPAA-compliant infrastructure. Experience with other cloud platforms will be considered a plus.
• Healthcare Data Experience: At least 2 years of experience working with genomics and multimodal health data, including familiarity with data standards, interoperability, and analytics.
• Startup Mindset: Prior experience in an early-stage startup environment, where adaptability, problem-solving, and a bias for action are essential.
• Leadership and Mentorship: Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
• Strong Opinions and Vision: We value candidates who have strong opinions about building research infrastructure for multimodal data and are eager to contribute to the strategic direction of our technology stack.
