Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manager Tax & Compliance to join our Finance team in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this pivotal role is responsible for overseeing all tax-related affairs, ensuring full regulatory compliance, and maintaining robust financial controls within the Esports Foundation. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary liaison with the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) and other regulatory bodies, while driving tax planning initiatives, optimizing compliance processes, and ensuring adherence to Saudi tax laws, IFRS standards, and internal policies. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization’s financial integrity and operational efficiency through meticulous tax management and strategic compliance oversight.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager Tax & Compliance will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities, including:
- Tax Operations & Compliance:
- Oversee all VAT obligations, including registration, periodic filings, reconciliations, and timely payments to ZATCA;
- Manage Withholding Tax (WHT) calculations, filings, and compliance for payments to non-resident entities;
- Monitor and interpret changes in Saudi tax legislation, assessing their impact on the organization’s financial and operational strategies;
- Act as the primary point of contact for ZATCA audits, inquiries, and communications, ensuring prompt and accurate responses;
- Ensure full compliance with e-invoicing requirements under FATOORAH Phase 2, aligning systems and processes with ZATCA mandates.
- Financial Operations & Accounting Support:
- Collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager to support day-to-day financial operations, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and accruals, with a focus on tax compliance;
- Review accounting entries and postings to validate correct application of tax treatments, such as VAT and WHT;
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring accurate recording of tax-related accruals and provisions;
- Provide expert guidance on the tax implications of transactions, identifying potential compliance risks and escalating concerns to senior leadership;
- Work in tandem with Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), and Procurement teams to ensure data consistency and tax integrity across all financial processes.
- Financial Reporting & Internal Controls:
- Prepare and review financial reports, tax schedules, reconciliations, and statutory submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance;
- Enforce adherence to financial controls, approval matrices, and delegations of authority to mitigate operational and tax risks;
- Conduct regular assessments to identify and remediate control gaps in both finance operations and tax exposure;
- Support the preparation of management reporting and board-level financial summaries, highlighting key tax and compliance metrics.
- Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure unwavering compliance with all local regulatory requirements, including ZATCA, Ministry of Finance, and SAMA guidelines;
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, procedures, and audit trails to support regulatory reviews;
- Proactively identify tax risks and escalate material issues to the Finance Director for timely resolution;
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and legal counsel to address complex tax matters, disputes, or regulatory challenges.
- Process Excellence & Team Leadership:
- Drive continuous improvement in finance and tax processes, as well as ERP and reporting systems, to enhance efficiency and accuracy;
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior finance team members, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability;
- Serve as a trusted finance and tax advisor to operational stakeholders across business units, ensuring alignment with corporate policies;
- Promptly escalate any risks, issues, or deviations to the Finance Director to facilitate proactive decision-making.
Qualifications & Competencies
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Taxation, or a related field;
- Experience: Minimum of six years in accounting, finance operations, or tax management, with at least three years of hands-on experience in Saudi tax compliance (VAT, WHT);
- Regulatory Knowledge: Prior experience interfacing directly with ZATCA and a deep understanding of Saudi tax regulations, including VAT, WHT, and e-invoicing (FATOORAH);
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of IFRS accounting principles and financial reporting standards, alongside practical experience with ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP;
- Analytical & Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, a proactive ownership mindset, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure; strong analytical capabilities to assess complex tax scenarios and communicate insights effectively;
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and influence decision-making at all levels.
