Job Purpose

The Health and Safety Officer plays a pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property by acting as the critical liaison between management and the workforce. This position is instrumental in upholding safety standards, ensuring strict compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and proactively mitigating risks to create a secure working environment. The role demands vigilance, leadership, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential hazards before they escalate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to local occupational safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards to maintain a legally compliant and safe workplace.
  • Policy Implementation: Execute directives from senior safety and security officers, ensuring that all safety protocols are effectively communicated and implemented across all worksites.
  • Risk Management: Conduct regular workplace inspections to identify deficiencies, assess risks, and implement corrective measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Oversee the availability, proper use, and maintenance of PPE and safety equipment to ensure all employees are adequately protected.
  • Equipment Safety: Perform routine inspections of machinery, tools, and equipment to verify their safety and operational integrity, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Conduct regular checks of emergency exits, fire systems, and other critical safety infrastructure to ensure readiness in case of an emergency.
  • Training and Development: Deliver comprehensive safety training sessions for new and existing employees, covering job-specific safety protocols and best practices.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead thorough investigations into workplace incidents, analyze root causes, and document findings with actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and documentation, addressing employee concerns and driving continuous improvements in workplace safety.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience in health and safety roles, with a proven track record in implementing safety protocols and managing compliance.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • In-depth knowledge of Saudi HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) regulations and industry standards.
    • Exceptional ability to conduct engaging and informative safety training sessions for diverse audiences.
    • Strong technical writing skills for preparing detailed safety reports and documentation.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all safety-related activities.
    • Resilience and adaptability to work under pressure, particularly in field environments and high-risk settings.
    • Proficiency in HSE management systems and safety-related software to streamline compliance and reporting processes.
