Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for safeguarding the integrity and performance of plant assets through a combination of technical expertise, strategic planning, and continuous improvement. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Safety, Health, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure all maintenance engineering activities adhere to SABIC’s EHSS policies, SHEM standards, and regulatory requirements. Integrate safety, health, and environmental considerations into maintenance strategies, job scopes, and repair methodologies. Actively participate in incident investigations related to equipment failures and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to mitigate future risks.
• Reliability Engineering and Performance Optimization: Analyze equipment performance data, failure history, and condition-monitoring results to identify chronic issues, underperforming assets, and opportunities for improvement. Develop and execute reliability improvement plans, including preventive and predictive maintenance measures, to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment availability. Monitor key reliability metrics such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), equipment availability, and Preventive Maintenance (PM) compliance, and translate trends into actionable improvement initiatives aligned with SABIC Engineering Standards and industry best practices.
• Maintenance Strategy Development and Optimization: Establish, review, and continuously refine equipment maintenance strategies based on criticality, risk assessment, and lifecycle requirements. Maintain and update Preventive Maintenance (PM) plans, task lists, and condition-monitoring routines in SAP PM to ensure maintenance efforts are focused on areas that deliver the greatest reliability and cost benefits. Identify and eliminate low-value or redundant maintenance tasks without compromising safety, integrity, or regulatory compliance.
• Turnaround Readiness and Planning Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of maintenance turnarounds. Contribute to the planning, scheduling, and execution phases by providing technical expertise, risk assessments, and recommendations to enhance turnaround efficiency and minimize operational disruptions.
• Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices in maintenance engineering. Participate in reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) studies, failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and root cause analysis (RCA) to enhance asset reliability and extend equipment lifecycles. Contribute to SABIC’s sustainability initiatives by optimizing maintenance practices to reduce resource consumption and environmental impact.

Qualifications and Competencies

To excel in this role, you will possess a strong mechanical engineering background with a proven track record in maintenance engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or related industries. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications and competencies:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Professional certifications such as Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance engineering, with a focus on reliability improvement, preventive maintenance, and equipment performance optimization.
• Proficiency in SAP PM or similar Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for maintenance planning and execution.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret equipment performance data, failure trends, and condition-monitoring results to drive data-driven decision-making.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• A commitment to safety, health, and environmental excellence, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ASME, and ISO, and a deep understanding of SABIC Engineering Standards and SHEM requirements.
