Data Privacy Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Privacy Specialist to join our dynamic team at Datamatics Technologies in Riyadh. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in safeguarding our organization’s data assets while ensuring full compliance with global and regional data protection regulations. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust data privacy policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to data protection laws, including but not limited to GDPR, CCPA, and local Saudi regulations such as the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). Conduct regular audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
• Policy Development & Implementation: Design, update, and enforce comprehensive data privacy policies, standards, and guidelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate privacy considerations into business processes, product development, and third-party engagements.
• Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct thorough data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and privacy risk evaluations to identify vulnerabilities. Develop and recommend mitigation strategies to minimize exposure to data breaches and regulatory penalties.
• Training & Awareness: Lead data privacy training initiatives to educate employees, contractors, and stakeholders on their roles and responsibilities in protecting sensitive information. Foster a culture of privacy awareness across the organization.
• Incident Response & Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for data privacy incidents. Investigate breaches, assess their impact, and coordinate with legal, IT, and executive teams to implement corrective actions and report incidents to relevant authorities as required.
• Vendor & Third-Party Management: Evaluate and monitor the data privacy practices of external vendors, partners, and service providers. Ensure contractual agreements include robust data protection clauses and conduct periodic due diligence reviews.
• Data Mapping & Classification: Maintain accurate records of data flows, storage locations, and processing activities. Classify data based on sensitivity and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect personal and confidential information.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you should possess a blend of technical acumen, regulatory knowledge, and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or a related field. Advanced certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or CISSP are highly desirable.
• Proven experience (3+ years) in data privacy, compliance, or a related field, with a track record of implementing privacy programs in multinational or regulated environments.
• In-depth understanding of data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, PDPL, and other regional or sector-specific regulations.
• Proficiency in data privacy tools, frameworks, and methodologies, such as privacy by design, data minimization, and encryption techniques.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable strategies.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and influence organizational change.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
