Shipper Packer - GDEC TO23
The Shipper Packer is responsible for providing technical guidance to employees on preservation, packaging, and packing matters, ensuring the effective implementation of program criteria, procedures, and techniques. This role requires a high level of English proficiency.
- Resolves complex problems related to preservation, packaging, and marking methods.
- Blocks and braces a wide variety of military equipment and supplies.
- Studies and analyzes the preservation, packaging, and packing program to ensure its effectiveness.
- Implements changes in packaging methods, requirements, and procedures.
- Establishes packaging standard operating procedures for employees to follow.
- Ensures employees are updated on packaging regulations, including hazardous packaging requirements.
- Reviews packaging discrepancies and recommends appropriate corrective actions.
- Recommends methods of preservation when guidance is not readily available from data systems.
- Researches technical, performance, environmental, and cost data on packing materials.
- Reads specifications and photographs as required in DLA contracts.
- Undertakes formal training on technical/certifiable aspects of packing and shipping hazardous materials every two years.
- Applies management policy, principles, and practices to implement packaging guidelines.
- Utilizes automated systems such as DSS, HMIRS, FEDLOG, FLOS, and JHCS.
- Applies fact-finding, analytical, and problem-solving methods to identify packing problems.
- Analyzes diverse data to determine trends, solve problems, and recommend a course of action.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in areas of responsibility to ensure an efficient packaging/preservation process.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum one year of specific experience in material handling, supply, distribution, inspection, or related areas. One year of experience using woodshop tools, fabricating containers, framing construction, or preservation, packing, and packaging. One year of experience demonstrating the ability to read blueprints, measure fabrication, and identify various materials for construction of wood containers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Saudi national familiar with local safety regulations and government procedures in Saudi Arabia. Fluent in English with strong communication skills. Proficient in operating materials handling equipment and Microsoft Suite products. Demonstrates a good attitude, ability to work in a team, and ability to work effectively under minimum supervision. Ability to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with strong attention to detail. Physical demands include occasional standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, operating office equipment, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
