Business Unit Head - Facilities Management

About the Role

We are partnering with a leading facilities management and operations organization to identify a seasoned senior leader who is prepared to assume a deputy directorship role with significant strategic and operational scope. This position offers a dynamic opportunity to collaborate closely with the Business Unit Operations Director, overseeing the day-to-day execution of multiple projects and sites. You will be entrusted with translating high-level strategy into actionable operational plans, ensuring teams meet financial and performance targets while stepping into a leadership role when required. This hands-on position provides full exposure to profit and loss management, client relationship development, and the strategic direction of the business unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Delivery & Execution: Drive the successful delivery of projects across scope, budget, and schedule, implementing proactive risk management to mitigate potential disruptions.
• Performance & Financial Oversight: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, address issues promptly, and implement corrective actions to maintain operational excellence. Manage budgets rigorously, control costs effectively, and safeguard profitability to ensure sustainable financial performance.
• Stakeholder & Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain trusted, long-term relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and fostering collaborative partnerships.
• Team Leadership & Development: Lead and inspire high-performing operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement to drive exceptional results.
• Compliance & Standards: Champion quality, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across all sites, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational policies to uphold the highest standards of operational integrity.

Qualifications & Skills

To excel in this role, you will bring a robust engineering background coupled with extensive experience in facilities management and operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading multi-site or multi-project operational teams, demonstrating the ability to manage complex environments with precision and agility. Commercial acumen is essential—you must possess a deep understanding of budget management, cost control, and the factors that drive profitability. Strong communication skills are critical; you should be able to engage confidently with clients and senior stakeholders, articulating insights and influencing decisions with clarity and conviction. Above all, you are a proactive problem-solver who takes ownership of challenges, resolves issues decisively, and avoids unnecessary escalation.
