Reef Group is seeking a meticulous and experienced Senior Payments Accountant to oversee and enhance our payment operations with precision, compliance, and strategic oversight. Based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this full-time role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of all financial transactions while maintaining robust internal controls and fostering operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounts payable, financial reconciliation, and payment processing, with a commitment to driving continuous improvement in financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Payments Accountant will be responsible for the following core functions:

• Payment Review and Processing: Thoroughly review invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation to verify compliance with contractual agreements, company policies, and financial controls. Prepare and validate payment orders with unwavering attention to detail before submission for approval.
• Supplier and Vendor Payments: Process supplier and vendor payments in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to due dates and minimizing the risk of late fees or penalties. Monitor open balances and resolve discrepancies through effective coordination with procurement, legal, and operational teams.
• Financial Recording and Reconciliation: Accurately record all payment transactions in the company’s financial system, ensuring proper accounting entries and alignment with general ledger standards. Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts payable, including monitoring of advance payments and pending settlements to facilitate timely closure and reconciliation.
• Expenditure Classification and Analysis: Review operating and capital expenditures to ensure accurate classification and allocation to the appropriate cost centers. Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or inefficiencies, providing actionable recommendations for process improvements.
• Liquidity and Treasury Coordination: Collaborate closely with the treasury function to confirm the availability of sufficient liquidity prior to executing scheduled payments. Assist in forecasting cash flow requirements to support the organization’s financial stability and operational continuity.
• Reporting and Compliance: Prepare periodic reports on payment activities, including overdue payment analyses, vendor inquiries, and outstanding claims. Ensure full compliance with internal financial controls, regulatory requirements, and company policies while contributing to the enhancement of payment processes.
• Process Optimization: Lead initiatives to automate and streamline accounts payable processes, leveraging technology to improve data accuracy, reduce manual errors, and enhance operational efficiency. Participate in the evaluation and implementation of new financial systems or tools to support scalability and compliance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between finance, procurement, and vendor management teams to resolve payment inquiries, discrepancies, and disputes in a timely and professional manner. Support month-end and year-end closing activities by providing accurate payment schedules, reconciliations, and financial documentation.
