Role Overview

As a Security Systems Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding RUA’s campus by managing and optimizing advanced security technologies. Your expertise will ensure the integrity, functionality, and reliability of access control, CCTV, and alarm systems, contributing to a secure and conducive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage campus security technology systems, including access control, CCTV, and alarm systems, to maintain a safe and secure operational environment.
• Exercise institutional control over all security systems, ensuring proper configuration, access rights, and system integrity.
• Monitor system performance to guarantee continuous functionality across all security platforms.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for security systems administration, overseeing accurate system setup, updates, and user access management.

Strategic Responsibilities

• Uphold system standards, protocols, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance across all security platforms.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of security systems by identifying opportunities for upgrades and optimization.
• Support the integration of security systems with other campus systems, such as access control and ID systems, where necessary.

Operational Responsibilities

• Administer access control systems, including user access provisioning, modifications, and deactivation in alignment with institutional policies.
• Monitor and manage CCTV systems to ensure comprehensive coverage, recording functionality, and system uptime.
• Oversee alarm systems, ensuring timely responses, proper configuration, and seamless coordination with relevant teams when alerts are triggered.
• Maintain accurate logs of all security-related incidents within systems, preserving records for reporting and audit purposes.
• Conduct routine system checks and troubleshooting to uphold reliability and minimize operational downtime.
• Document system configurations, logs, and user records to support compliance and operational transparency.
• Assist in investigations by providing critical system data, footage, and access logs as required.

Qualifications and Experience

Industry Experience

• 8–10 years of hands-on experience in security systems management, preferably within campus, institutional, or large-scale environments.
• Proven expertise in managing access control systems, CCTV platforms, and alarm systems.
• Familiarity with integrated security systems and coordination with IT infrastructure.

Management Capabilities

• Strong ability to manage and administer multiple security platforms and systems simultaneously.
• Experience in system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Proven track record in coordinating with vendors and technical teams for system maintenance and upgrades.
• Comprehensive understanding of security protocols, access governance, and incident management processes.

Interpersonal Skills

• Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in system configuration and incident logging.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
